Guys,

I got my Apple TV 4K today. I connected it directly to the TV. I want to listen to music without having my TV on. But as soon as I switch off my TV the music stops.

Is there any workaround/preference to let the music play without the TV on?

Thanks in advance!

I assume you have your speakers connected to the TV and the moment you switch the TV off, the audio pass-through gets interrupted.
You need to find a way to connect the speakers directly to the ATV.
In the days of the ATV2, there was a separate digital audio out interface that could be used for that, whereas now all you have is the HDMI port.
I think some people have solved the problem with some kind of HDMI splitter that separates the audio so that it can be served directly to your hi-fi amplifier and/or active speakers.
Similar to this one (I have no experience with this product): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Splitter-Tendak-Extractor-Optical-Converter-HDMI-Audio/dp/B01850K40M

Yeah, I suppose that’s the solution. Thank you!

Now I have the problem that I can only stream the sound to one device at a time. Is that normal?

Before I had a Mac mini from 2009 and he could stream sound to my Airport Express AND the amplifier. I'm not sure about my purchase …
