airplay is not perfect. and it normally has less than optimal results.
you say..."a movie in Apple tv on my MacBook on my tv.'
you're watching something in the TV app on your Mac? and outputting it on the TV?
how exactly are you doing that?
direct video cable -- the Mac can't auto match frame rates.
airplay -- see above, also can't match frame rate this way either.
if you're on a direct cable from your Mac, you can manually adjust the frame rate, but it still probably won't match the video
I just purchased a Dell P2175Q monitor for my 15" MBP w/Touchbar. I'm connecting with a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, but when I go to Apple > System Preference > Displays, there is nothing about the

Why don't you use the TV app on your aTV?
Netflix and prime is working like they should, the TV app will as well.
if you're playing your own media, airplay really isn't the answer.
Take a look at Plex, infuse, or VLC.
all 3 are free, Plex and infuse both have the option to pay for additional features.
With Plex you have to run a server on your computer, it categorizes all your files, and adds descriptions, personnel, and artwork
you then get the Plex app for all your devices, (iOS, iPad, tvOS, Roku, android, Mac, windows, linux, and most smartTVs)
if the player can handle the file as is, the sever sends it on, if not it converts to something that works.
it's also nice, because since it's server/client, it doesn't care which client you're on, start a movie on aTV, stop, and pick it up on your phone.
and as long as both server and client have internet, it will work, even if they're not on the same network. (bandwidth permitting) (you do have to enable, and possibly troubleshoot)
Plex is pretty close to your own personal Netflix.
your friends can also make an account, and you can share with them,
With the paid level, you can even sync media to your mobile device,
infuse is similar, but it all happens on the aTV.
you share folders on your computer, and infuse will categorize.
there is some sharing of configs between aTVs on the network, but I'm not sure how much.
remote viewing, sharing with friends, and syncing to your mobile doesn't exist in this app.
you can also turn off the metadata, and just browse files.
VLC is just a player.
you can browse shared folders. and then play files.
