Apple has quietly introduced an annual subscription option for Apple TV+, priced at $49.99 in the United States, $59.99 in Canada, £49.99 in the United Kingdom, and EUR49.99 in many other European countries.

apple-tv-plus-1-year-sub-800x780.jpeg

In the United States, the $49.99 annual subscription provides a savings of $9.89 per year compared to a $4.99 per month subscription, which totals $59.88 in a year. In other words, the annual subscription effectively provides 12 months of Apple TV+ access for the price of 10 months for paying upfront.

To switch to the annual subscription plan on an iOS device, open the TV app, tap on your profile in the top-right corner, tap on Manage Subscriptions, tap on Apple TV+, and select the one-year option. Those with a free one-year trial will not be billed until expiration of that trial on October 31, 2020 or later.

Apple TV+ launched today and here is everything to know.

Still not worth it with the very little amount of content they have.
Totally agree… I have YouTubeTV Which gives me local channels plus a bunch of sports channels and national brand channels for $50 a month HBO for $15
(which in my humble opinion contains the best new content of any of the providers at this point)and I have an Amazon prime acct so there’s just no reason why I need AppleTV+. And for the record YouTubeTV is great… You can share it with family who live nearby, and with VPN you can enjoy your content from most places in the world with decent internet speeds.

They really need to do a bundle in the future.

Apple Music
Apple Arcade
Apple TV+
iCloud Storage
Apple News+

Hopefully they come up with custom bundle packages. It just makes sense.

They will, for sure, like sign up for apple or google or microsoft and you get the software, the content and maybe the hardware. all sort of like rented.

Hopefully you can buy more then 1 year.
Because we all know the price will rise when they get more content.

Cook said people upgrading to iPhone 11 get 1 year free for TV+. I upgraded to 11 Pro Max. I don't see this when I try to get TV+. I The only option I have is 1 week trial followed by monthly charge.

I’ll check out For All Mankind since I am a space fanatic and my wife got an iPhone 11, but the secondary premise that “soviets beat us to the moon so we need a female only team of astronauts” looks forced af (and quite dumb) considering that finding suitable astronauts was the least of their problems. However, the storytelling might be compelling enough to get me hooked.
The only other show I might like is Foundation. I wouldn’t pay the monthly price as of now.

Where do you see the subscription or rather 1 year trial for those who purchased an iDevice this year? I checked iTunes and My Subscriptions, but I only see my Apple Music Student plan...

Maybe five shows and one or two possibly good. Not a very spectacular lunch and not worth the money right now. I got free for year though with my new iPhone 11 Pro Max purchase however.

It is quite odd. Cause they advertise the service as if it was like a Netflix or a Hulu. But all they really are is just like a studio that is dabbling in some content they produce. Certainly not enough to charge $5 for.??‍♂️
Uh, I’m pretty sure they made it clear in their keynote dedicated to Apple TV+ that they were producing content only. That’s not like Netflix or Hulu. Apple is among the other channels featured in Apple TV Channels, a feature that led up to Apple TV+.

You are just misguided.

Seventeen (00.17) cents a day? Have to have a very tight budget to say that. Wondering if $4 is worth it for one Starbucks coffee? I don't think so, but I think I will give Apple TV+ a try at 17 cents a day.

I just signed in on my MBA to Apple TV+ and was greeted by a message that I have a one year free trial. I thought the free one year deal was IF I bought a new device. The only new Apple device I recently bought was my iPhone 11 in September. If this is legit, then everyone gets a free one year trial if they bought the new 11, 11Pro or the 11Max. I assume also any iPad or laptop.

Nine shows, but some people won’t like any ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But it’s literally day one. There are something like 40-50 shows in various stages of production, many of which will hit the service before tens/hundreds of millions of customers hit the end of their one year trial.

I know people complain about “subscription fatigue”, but really? $4 is the price of one iTunes rental. A month’s worth of streaming for the price of a two hour movie... $4 is really “not worth it”? Seems like an iffy argument (to me).

True, there’s not a lot of content now, but it doesn’t really take all that much to make it “worth” $4, does it? One or two series I enjoy; that’s all it would take for me. If I go out to lunch for work that’s $15-20. Or I could get 4-5 months of AppleTV+.

Yes, Disney+ is only $7/month, so on a shovel-full basis AppleTV+ might look “expensive”. Luckily, I can afford both and don’t have to choose between the two :)

One year price option for AppleTV+ is good.

Wish they would offer a one year option for iCloud. That 99¢ per month charge bugs me. Don’t ask why lol.

It totally bugs me too. All these disparate charges bug me... I really think Apple should do a bundle, as others have said, but from what has been reported, they can't get the licensed content creators to agree.

I'm sorry Apple, but if someone is willing to literally purchase all of your services, maybe YOU take less of a cut, and pass that on to the consumer. The margins aren't that tight!

Just to be clear. You need to sign up for it on the new device. The free trial will then offer you a 1 year free trial vs the normal trial period.

The margins are that tight with Apple Music. But you have a valid point; Apple could eat it.
