The Apple TV is a hobby device, Jobs said it himself. If you want real power in your living room, you need a Mac mini.

This took me by surprise. When was the last time they did anything with the AppleTV, let alone to "make their customers happy"?

Had the same thought. Did he have smirk on his face whe he said it? I think he was looking down. Maybe just reading. It can't be to proud of it's history of updates. Hopefully he is about to suprise us.

I was surprised by this also, but I was even more surprised by the fact that Jobs actually mentioned it by name. It wasn't just on the slide behind him.

So of late, we've had lots of rumors about 99 cent rentals, new interface design, possible port to iOS, new hardware outside the former Front Row/Apple TV group and Jobs answering a question about Apple TV's go-to-market strategy in detail at the D conference.

Sounds like good news, but I've got my hopes up before.

As I've said before and I will now say it again: Trying to read Apples tea leaves is a fools game. If it comes it will come. Beyond that its all vapor.
