How many people watch Apple TV+? 0.2% of all TV hours are viewed on Apple's streaming platform. 0.2%! By any reasonable metric, Apple TV+ is an unmitigated failure, a complete disaster, that cost Apple over 22 BILLION dollars.

Apple, a former tech company, has so much cash that they have no idea how to invest it in TECHNOLOGY. Instead, they make insipid, vacuous, submoronic dreck that almost no one watches.

I recently signed up for a three month trial, but plan on cancelling prior to being billed.

I just signed up for my wife and daughter to watch the Peanuts specials. Might check out some stuff there myself, but nothing seems interesting enough, yet.

I just wanted a bit more context, what countries? What time period et cetera. Does it include stuff like YouTube?

Apple TV+ content has always struck me as quality over quantity. Yes, there are fewer shows, but I probably end up watching a greater percentage of their original content overall compared to any other platform.

Also remember that TV+ has no back catalogue to boost viewing hours. If I am done, I am done, and then go elsewhere like YouTube.

I do disagree with your final point as well. Apple is focused on creating experiences, and that extends to ensuring that they have the services to support their hardware as necessary. For example, the vision pro needs content, and I see Apple relying more on TV+ to supply it with the necessary content if other streaming services won't support it.

This is why Apple is as successful as it is today. They, better than anyone else, understands that technology alone simply isn't enough. :)

Apple's video content nothing special in my opinion, any other big streaming service could have bought the scripts and have produced this content. One less subscription for us. I really don't like having all these different services, each offering one fraction of the total library.

Compared to Apple Music, there they do curating, radio and some specials, but 99% of content is existing stuff. And they offer basically all music. That makes sense to me, like how iTunes provided content for iPods. And they were not pretending to be a record label (name was already taken anyway ;)). Apple TV could have just been a more complete library of licensed content, along with integration of other streaming services like you have now.

TV+ is not quality over quantity. We keep jumping between different services, usually have 1-2 of the biggest services at any given time. And the % of must see shows (for our family of fours) is pretty much the same with all the services.

TV+ has one major advantage. It is practically free. Just this week yet another 3 month trial ended and I just used another offer the same day and... free 3 months again.

I would love that Apple would use their AI or something to trim down the MLS games full recaps. Should not be too difficult to remove all the “MLS season pass on ATV+ will be back soon”…

When we switched to T-Mobile we got Apple TV plus free for 6 months. We watched a few shows like "Slow horses" and "Bad Monkey" but that was it. We cancelled Apple TV plus but watch Paramount plus and Free Netflix. Apple TV plus doesn't have anything to offer other than the occasional MLB game. Sad---because I like the layout and functionality but the shows are really not interesting to me. Also, for $10 a month---way overpriced...

On a side note, I have had Roku, Firestick and Android TV and the Apple TV box is by far, better.

We have a few streaming options, some included with our cable. Apple TV+ certainly at $10 mo not cheap but less than Netflix. The ratio of shows started, shows continued and shows finished on TV+ is higher than say Netflix or Max.

Less content, higher quality shows.

It is pretty simple, if you don't like it, don't bother worrying about it. Move on. Nobody is forcing you to even think that it even exists. If it is irritating you so much, buy some shares in Apple and take it up as a shareholder or see a shrink.

I love Apple TV, they make some great shows, with great talent.

Agree.

But you did just demonstrate one of the flaws… the confusing naming 😉
