Does anyone know if/how I am able to use headphones for the audio when I am mirroring my MBP through ATV? Is it even possible to not have sound come through tv and/or just the MPB? It would help for when I want to watch something on computer at night and not wake everyone up. LOL

    Thanks for any help!

He wants to keep his headphones connected to his laptop, have the audio come through there, have the video stream to the TV.

If I get my verification code soon, I'll surely test it for you.

not that i have ever used it but you could just put your headphones in your comp, and mute your TV..or you could change your preferences for audio in and out to selected device... im just saying :)

I don't know if this would work, but it certainly sounds like something worth trying. Give it a shot!

Already tried that. When I am using mirroring... The only sound is from the ATV... No sound coming from MBP... Even with headphones in. That is why I'm asking if anyone knows a way for it to work... IF there is even a way....

Try option-clicking the AirPlay menu icon and see if there are any additional options. Many times there are. Just a thought (I don't have my Apple TV here to test at the moment.)

Or try alt-clicking the sound icon when connected to airplay. Can you choose internal speakers?

If you change the audio output from Apple TV in the menu bar it will turn off mirroring. However, I've found a solution! VLC allows you to change the audio output from within their app. All of your system audio will still be routed to the Apple TV, but the sound from your video will come through your internal speakers/headphones. And since VLC plays just about anything, you should be set.
