The Misty Mountains
Lately Apple has gone through some changes with MacOs and iOS. The familiar App display I’m used to is now scrambled With Apple’s reorganization of Apple TV to match changes in MacOS and iOS.
Apple TV is confusing. If you want to find Apps go to The AppStore, select Apps at top. There is a category of Now Streaming, but it’s a limited list.

  • I’m looking for SYFY Now Channel App.
You can either scroll down though a bunch of categories, like Apps we love, or Let’s go shopping, which is ok for browsing, but I’m looking for something specific.
  • So, scroll down to categories, and search, search, search.
  • Or at the top if you go to the magnifying glass and type in S it will take you to the S section, where you can scroll down and find it to add to Apple TV. I swear when I typed in SYFY, it did not appear the first time.
  • But now that you have it, where is it displayed? Purchased tab at the top. The easiest way to find it is to select All Apps on the left and scroll down through an un-alphabetized list to find it.
Does the App Store have a way to designate favorites? My initial impression is that this Organization is less friendly than Roku, but maybe I’ll get used to it.

The thing is, IMO, subscribed apps should be prominently displayed. As I said, they have a lot of stuff spashed about, but finding a specific channel app seems like more work than it should be and then they are buried in the back closet when you want to select them for viewing.
Maybe there is something I’m not understanding or I’m just not familiar enough. I’d much rather have subscribed apps front and center when the App Store is selected. Or why can’t they be in the Apple TV section of AppleTV? Or is that now reserved for Apple’s paid options?

The Good News is that it appears that the entire Battlestar Galactica series starting with the 2003 Miniseries is there for free viewing! :D However it does not appear to be high definition, but it’s not terrible. At least I was not asked to subscribe.
