As others have said, I think your TV deserves the PS3. You mentioned quality so that means Blu-ray, especially on a 60 inch TV. You also mentioned multimedia options, and off the top of my head just about the only thing the PS3 won't do that the AppleTV will do is play back DRM'd iTunes content - which would bring us back to the quality issue again anyway.

That's all before you even begin to look at features and value, which I think the PS3 blows the AppleTV away on. The PS3 is a huge, massive product for Sony, whereas by their own admission it's a "hobby" for Apple. Why should you take it seriously when the designers of the thing don't?!

PS3 all the way. It's the only bit of tech I own that I love as much as my Apple devices.

DLNA is the key

How do you do the Mac streaming & Photo viewing to the LG?
Could you browse itunes/iphoto/aperture libraries like Front Row
Any chance to watch websites that stream to your Mac (hulu.. )

As some other people have mentioned on the thread you just need to install a DLNA server on the lan and set that to point to where your media is, some of them will automatically serve what is in your my movies and photos folders etc.

The LG Comes with you tube built in but not hulu though some of the DLNA servers might allow you to bounce the hulu streams off the DLNA server (twonky i think).
When I was trying a few out eyeconnect seemed to have most features and work best, luckily most offer free trials to see how they work for you before you splash out.
eyeconnect is good as it lets you stream your eyetv recordings giving you access to pvr functions. :)

Hulu blocked access to PS3 a few years ago due to content owners requesting it. there is a $40 program for PC or Mac called Play Now or something like that. forgot the name. it will stream Hulu to your PS3
