My impression was that the series suggests motorcycles are as cool as smoking.

My impression, after actually watching both seasons multiple times, is that the series suggests it's cool to travel outside your own country and continent, meet strangers, learn about their culture, partake in their customs, cook and eat their food with them, and perhaps on the side bring attention to socioeconomic issues through a partnership with UNICEF. And that doing all these things on two wheels instead of four can help connect you to the land and the people, and aside from crossing a roadless chunk of Mongolia, it might even be more fun.

That's just me, though. Maybe I wasn't watching it correctly.

So a massive advertisement for Harley-Davidson, but good to see electric motorbikes going mainstream. All forms of transport need to have renewable fuel options.
...it is also ridiculous how Ewan McGregor does not seem to age, good genes I guess.

True enough, sure. Rich people need free stuff. Ha ha.

The first series was very much an advertisement for BMW, and in one big way an anti-advertisement for KTM. To this day I scoff quietly to myself at KTM bikes that I see out and about (as I ride my BMW, so I guess their ploy worked!)

For those of you that like this, you should try to find Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt. Similar concept, but cross country USA and focusing on local cuisines along the way.

He made another one that was nearly as good but they were on a boat instead of on motorcycles.

Very much a been there, done it feel with this series. But guess they fancied another paid-for adventure and the production company (Ewan's own) did the rounds seeking funding after getting polite renewal refusal from BBC and Sky. Of course Apple (as per usual under Cook when it comes to any sort of celebrity) just said "where do we sign?".

Agree, it will be really interesting to see this done on an electric bike! Hopefully Harley's electric bikes are better than their petrol ones.

Looking forward to it, first one was better than the second but still entertaining. I have been riding for 50 years and current have a 800cc sport/touring bike. For those who don't ride and and think this is an easy task, just try and keep a 600lb bike upright in the dirt and gravel! I am not a fan of cruiser bikes, probably go for an adventure bike, but I am too old for any more off roading.
