apple tv question " been bothering me for ever"

okay if I buy a movie on itunes, it won't let me buy the hd version. I have to go through apple tv.

what if I buy the movie through itunes, say the dark knight. If i buy it off itunes can i go to my apple tv and view it in hd, or do i have to buy all movies i want in hd off of apple tv.
 
You cannot buy HD movies, only HD TV shows, from Apple. You can only rent HD movies and only with the ATV, not with iTunes on your Mac or PC.
