We're considering completely getting rid of our satellite tv in favor of Apple TV. We have Netflix and Hulu and don't watch any tv except for sports.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what ATV can do.
I've seen they have the NBA and and baseball packages, but what about football? My husband is a Texans fan and football on Sundays is a must! (but not the Sunday ticket!)

Also, with these packages, can you only watch games live? Or can you watch them afterwards, as if you had them recorded on a dvr or TiVo?

    Thanks in advance!

NFL games seem difficult to come by via streaming, other than by watching them online.

You may be able to watch highlights with the other sports packages–I'm not sure you have the ability to "watch it later".

I don't believe Apple TV does Hulu.

You might also want to look at the Roku player, which has 1080P output, Netflix, Hulu, and a lot of others.

Do you live in the greater Houston area? If so, you can probably get the Texans games with an over-the-air antenna.

The NFL is so bound up with DirectTV that an app is unlikely. Over the Air is your best bet. Not sure, but I think a TiVo box will record over the air. Personally, I am using EyeTV from elgato to record Over The Air content and export it to iTunes for viewing on my ATV.

There are also some NFL packages available on iTunes, but not the full game telecast. just search for NFL in iTunes to see what's available. I think this stuff is all coming from NFL Network.

Of course, at this point who knows if there will be a season this year anyway...
