Hi

My Apple tv (HD) remote needed charging; so I plugged it it to the lightning connector on my Ipad charger.
Now it works fine for a few days, then it needs charging (before this it lasted weeks). I noticed the when charged, looking at the remote in settings it has the charging symbol displayed and it is not conned to the charger. It stays this way for a few days ( always indicating 99 %) and then starts disconnecting and telling me to charge the remote.
This remote (and apple tv) is about 2 years old and no problems until this. Is the remote dying or is there anything I can do?

thank you

I would first reset the remote - press and hold Menu and Volume Up at the same time for 3 or 4 seconds, and then re-pair it.

Not sure if the iPad charger could be the problem, but wouldn’t have thought so. Can you try charging with another charger to eliminate this?

You say that previously, the remote would last for weeks after charging. I think it is your remote battery. Our remote is used numerous times daily, and after charging, it will last many many months on that charge. I bet our remote is only charged a couple of times a year - I can’t recall the last time I did it!

I charged the remote using another charger and that seems to have done it. The remote no longer shows the charging symbol. I will now see how long the charge will last.
It is strange that the charger causes the remote to discharge quickly.
thanks

If there was one addition to the remote, i'd include a small charging LED, so you wouldn't have turn on the TV just to see status or computer.

Fingers crossed for you - interested to hear what happens. Maybe someone techy might advise why the iPad charger should possibly be avoided.
