apple tv remote interfering with macbook pro

Hello. I have to take my laptop out and into a different room when i control my apple tv as it starts front row up and or itunes.
Is there any way of disabling it from onr piece of hardware to another?

Go into the Security preferences on your laptop and check "Disable remote control infrared receiver".

If you have more than one remote, you can also pair a specific remote to one computer.

Yes, that works if you pair a remote to each thing. If you pair the remote to AppleTV and don't do anything with the laptop, the remote will control both. That's why I turned it completely off on my laptop.
