Apple TV with LG TV. A function I loved has stopped working. TV on HDMI 1, Apple TV on HDMI 3. If I was watching TV (HDMI 1) and double clicked the TV icon on the remote the TV would switch to Apple TV+ (which I had set as main screen). All of sudden double clicking on the remote TV icon doesn't switch from (HDMI1 to 3). Software up to date on TV, and Apple TV device. Any suggestions for a very non tech savvy person appreciated. Thanks.

Reboot all: TV, AppleTV and remote too. Then try again.

Is the remote charged? Check it's battery to see if it is nearly drained.

This is a relatively basic CEC action, so it should work if it worked in the past. If you have made any changes to anything since it worked, change it back and try again.

If you want to rule things out, you might start by using the virtual remote in an iDevice (Remote app by Apple) and see if that will do what you expect.

Thank you so much for the info. I will try everything you suggested and reply.

also, unplug and replug both ends of the HDMI cable, in case one end is bit loose, it will also force the aTV and TV to re-handshake again.

and re-verify the settings are correct in the remotes section of the settings app. Sometimes the HDMI connection will flake, and those settings get set wrong.

a power cycle on the TV and aTV may help also, I've got an extension cord up to the TV and aTV, I'll pull that every so often if things get weird.

Update: THANKS for the suggestions. All back to "normal". Unplugged everything, checked for all updates, pulled out and reinserted the HDMI...It worked! Thanks again. Just and fyi, we got a Hisense for a bedroom that comes with FIRE TV software. It is nice to be able to go "back and forth" from the HDMI 3 (FIRE TV) to HDMI 1 (box) and visa versa. Wish Apple TV could do that. Again, thanks for the feedback. Have a great day!
