Apple TV remote software update

Can Apple TV's software be updated remotely?

Apple TV is on, automatic update is turned on, remote access is turned on. How do I tell it to update remotely?

I have waited a couple of days hoping that it would happen automatically but, nothing yet.

Any ideas?
