The Hollywood Critics Association has published its nominations for its first annual TV awards, as highlighted by Deadline.

Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso has received eight nominations, which is more than any other show. Overall, Apple TV+ titles have received 15 nominations across various categories. Netflix was the leading streaming service, with a total of 28 nominations across multiple categories.

Ted Lasso has been nominated for Best Streaming Comedy Series, Best Actor for Jason Sudeikis, dual nominations in Best Supporting Actress for Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham, and four nominations in Best Supporting Actor for Brendan Hunt, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, and Nick Mohammed.

For Best Streaming Comedy Series, Ted Lasso takes on Netflix's "Cobra Kai," Peacock's "Girls5Eva," and HBO Max's "Hacks" and "The Flight Attendant," as well as Apple TV+'s "Mythic Quest." Mythic Quest also received a number of other nominations, with Rob McElhenney being nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Streaming Series and Danny Pudi for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Streaming Series.

Apple TV+'s "Servant" is nominated for Best Drama Streaming Series, competing with Netflix's "Bridgerton" and "The Crown," Amazon Prime Video's "The Boys," Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale," and Disney+'s "The Mandalorian." Rupert Grint is also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Streaming Series. For "Dickinson," Hailee Steinfeld is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Streaming Series.

"1971: The Year Music Changed Everything" is nominated for Best Streaming Docuseries, Documentary Television Movie, or Non-Fiction Series, where it rivals Netflix's "American Murder: The Family Next Door," "Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel," "Murder Among Mormons," "The Sons of Sam: A Descent into Darkness," and "Unsolved Mysteries," HBO Max's "Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults," Hulu's "Kid 90s," and Amazon Prime Video's "P!nk: All I Know So Far."

Apple TV+ shows have been nominated for over 400 awards since the streaming service's launch, including 25 Daytime Emmy Awards. In particular, Ted Lasso has been a major award-winner for Apple, receiving a Critics Choice Award, SAG Award, a Golden Globe, and more.

Has anyone composed a list of all the types of awards that go to the TV and Movie industry? It seems like this industry really does award itself too much. I mean the only music awards I know of are basically the Grammys, and the 2 or 3 Country Music Awards. I can't name awards for any other occupation, and in sports you have types of awards for different players but that's all part of just one season. For movies it is starting to feel like they award themselves every week.

There are awards all over the place, for virtually everything, you’re just unaware of them because they don’t register in the news you choose to read. There are hundreds of music awards, which you would find if you went looking for them. Google plumbing awards, or achaeology awards, or surgery awards. They all exist, and not just one of each.

Apple really got its comedies right. Ted Lasso, Mythic Quest, Trying: all wonderful. Dickinson looks ok as well (only seen one episode so far). And the upcoming Shmigadoon could be great (or awful, I don’t expect another outcome).

I have thoroughly enjoyed Ted Lasso.

I did not watch it for quite a few months after it was first released, thinking that I wouldn't find it worthwhile. When I finally gave it a try, I loved it.

I'm just now watching it for the second time, getting ready for Season 2. It is a really charming and delightful show.

I have hated every Apple TV show. It should be shut down. Complete garbage. Really, a tv show about morning shows with that dried up husk Anniston? Get it off the plate and focus on being great computers, phones, and fix the bugs in IOS!

Yet another nominations for awards I have never heard. Nominations for over 400 awards… Sounds like competition for small children where everyone gets a medal for participation 😁
Since it's literally the 'first annual', it's not surprising you haven't heard of it. Neither have I. :D

So you think the guys making these shows should suddenly switch to fixing bugs in IOS? Shutting down would just put people out of work while providing no benefit for Apple's technical side of the business. (and the notion that it should be shut down because you have hated every Apple TV show is comical. Thank you for that. :D)

The people working in AppleTV are not the same ones responsible for iOS and other areas of Apple. No one forced you to watch AppleTV. You hate it and that is fine. You are entitled to your opinion. No need to be so hateful about it.

Spend the money somewhere else. Take it and build up the technical side. These failures don’t deserve jobs. The shows suck and they are awful in doing their jobs. I have some faith they would be good at handing me my fries through a window, but I’m not sure.

Not hateful, honest. These are some of the worst actors, writers, and production people I have ever seen. They should feel shame for being so awful.

I didn't care for the show, either. I found the writing to be very weak and saw all the constant cursing a filler for said writing. At the same time, there have been other shows that I found to be much better for my personal interests. I think saying it should be shut down for everyone because of your personal opinion is way over the line. That kind of sentiment showed hate to me.

I’m a hateful kind of guy.

Don’t judge a book by it’s trailer. this character is far above anything he’s done on SNL, way more nuance and depth of character. You see many angles of this character as he interacts with different people, and he always feels authentic and real.
I’m sold. I’ll check it out when I get a chance.
