Sounds great but with sooooo much content and good content it's just hard to add another video subscription service. I also watch a decent amount of sports so that eats into it but I don't for see adding Apple tv+ or Disney as I can't even keep up with Netflix or Amazon Video and cable, which I need for local sports teams, so might as get the other stuff cable has to offer.

Excellent show! -- the opinion as someone who has never seen Anniston in anything and despises looking at the female gnome, Witherspoon.

Both the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards will be followed by the Academy Awards, given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Nominations for the Academy Awards, which will be held on February 9, have not yet been announced. SAG and Golden Globe nominations are often predictors of Academy Award nominations, though.

Does the author of this article not realize that the Academy Awards are for film, not television, and that the paragraph I quoted has no relevance to any TV shows, including The Morning Show?

SAG Aawards? Who's the most saggiest actor/actress?

Weak attempt, bro.

Apple TV+ series "The Morning Show" has been nominated for three Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding male actor and outstanding female actor.

Steve Carell and Billy Crudup, who play Mitch Kessler and Corey Ellison, respectively, have been nominated for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series award.

The two will be competing against Sterling K. Brown (Randall Pearson) from "This Is Us," Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) from "Game of Thrones," and David Harbour (Jim Hopper) from "Stranger Things."

Jennifer Aniston, who plays Alex Levy, was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. Reese Witherspoon, who plays Bradley Jackson in "The Morning Show" was not nominated.

Aniston will be competing against Helena Bonham Carter (Princess Margaret) and Olivia Coleman (Queen Elizabeth II) from "The Crown," Jodie Comer (Villanelle) from "Killing Eve," and Elisabeth Moss (June/Offred) from "The Handmaid's Tale."

Apple has also received several Golden Globe Award nominations for "The Morning Show," including a nomination for best drama series. Both Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston have been nominated for best actress in a drama series Golden Globe awards as well.

Apple is competing against HBO's "Big Little Lies" and "Succession," BBC America's "Killing Eve," and Netflix's "The Crown" for the best drama series Golden Globe award.

The SAG Awards are given by the Screen Actors Guild and they are considered one of the major award events in Hollywood. The Golden Globe Awards, also considered a major award event, are decided on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

The SAG awards will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2020, while the Golden Globes will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

Both the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards will be followed by the Academy Awards, given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. "The Morning Show" is the only one of Apple's TV shows to receive award nominations in 2020, and it is the series with the most notable cast. Prior to launch, "The Morning Show" received less than stellar reviews from critics, but it has fared better with audiences.

So far I've caught the first two episodes. A few off-the-cuff reactions:

1. Anniston and Carrel are both fine actors but in a couple of scenes they go way over the top and just shout their lines. A better director would have asked them to dial it back a tad. What kind of director allows, or maybe even encourages, his talent to perform at their very worst?

2. Great production values, maybe the best I've ever seen on a t. v. drama. Excellent photography. Terrific use of surround sound (so many sound engineers really have no idea what to do with it), except in the bar scene with the singer towards the start of #2 the background noise from the rear speakers came dangerously close to drowning out the dialogue. I really appreciate the way this show gives my home theater a genuine workout, now I start to congratulate myself for having paid so much money for it (something a lot of programming makes me wonder about).

3. Shameless product placement. Not very many scenes go by without someone whipping out his/her iPhone, with that iconic Notch always prominently displayed. Come on, guys, give it a rest!

4. The empty suits from Network? -- like the entire cast of Netflix' "The Irishman," I've seen these super-predictable characters waaay too many times already. Whenever these guys are in a scene the scriptwriters start cruising on autopilot.

It's a good show... well done Apple.
I agree. Whodathunkit. I was as cynical as any other MR forum member in the beginning. Wishing they would stick to hardware and software. Laughing at the articles and leaks. But I’m happy to eat some crow. Apple got me enthusiastic about tv again. Credit where to where it is due. They actually can multi task. Color me surprised.

'The Morning Show' is quite excellent. Last week's episode was the best one so far (IMHO).

Does anyone know how many episodes we'll get before we have to wait for the 2nd season?

Mark

My vote is for David Harbour because Stranger Things is the only show I've seen from this list thus far. That and of course his character in the show is great.

It started out slow but has turn into a a great show. In fact I'm quite impressed with all the shows on ATV+ I've been watching: See, For All Mankind, TMS and Dickenson.

Ummm the The Screen Actors Guild covers both television and film. Television screen, movie screen... get it? 🙄

PS calling that 12-year old behavior is an insult to 12 year olds isn’t it. Grow up, group insults aren’t allowed here anyway.

You don’t watch movies, do you? That was a swing-and-a-miss.

This is the reason why i like Apple TV+ a lot. Everytime i open netflix i feel overwhelmed, there's way too much content and most of it is crap so i don't watch anything.

When i open my Apple TV+ i know i have few choices and so far it looks like everything what Apple have done is great quality content. And i still haven't even started to watch: for all mankind or truth be told.

TBF, Aniston’s acting is getting good from Ep. 3 or 4 onward (not sure which one but the one she sings) and then it’s just stronger and stronger (well, except for little scenes here and there 😀).

For All Mankind: truly awesome show. Not sure how they want to carry on, considering that they've already tackled corruption, accidents, feminism, same-sex relationships, Nasa's dubious past (von Braun etc.), the Russia vs. USA thing - and all in the first 7 episodes. But we'll see. I also don't get the title as it's clearly "for the US only" and not "For All Mankind" but that's what space exploration has always been about.

Anyway - compared to FAM, the Morning Show has been one veeeeeery long Apple commerical. I never made it past the second episode. It's boring AF. Definitely the best sleeping aid Apple has ever sold. I just can't watch Aniston anymore either - the (probably) huge number of facial procedures make her face look like that of Sophia, the human-like robot, to me.

Agreed. They just need a better Apple TV remote, haha.

Hollywood awards are meaningless. It's the industry patting each other on the back. Often times it's like a political process. Are some of you going to run to your friends and tell them how awesome it is that a show got some SAG nominations? No one I know gives 2 rips about movie/tv awards.

Mindhunter is without a doubt one of the best tv shows out and it got 0 SAG nominations.

There's so much high quality television and acting out there it's a shame something run-of-the-mill like The Morning Show gets a nod. I suppose Awards have always worked like that, though.

While I am enjoying my year of free Apple TV+, about 10 shows that it has now isn't enough. Apple has drama category mostly well covered, but it's very lacking in comedy and family oriented contents (I love Snoopy in Space though).

Thankfully, Apple TV+'s 2020 line up looks very promising, with 22 new series joining 5 existing series that have been officially renewed for 2nd season -- 5 comedies, 2 docuseries, 5 conventional dramas, 6 thriller/horror dramas, 4 action/sci-fi/fantasy dramas. It could use more family oriented contents still, but perhaps Apple is content not competing head-on with Disney+.

As for Netflix, its "infinite content" is meant to compensate for contents it does not have. For instance, if you are searching for last year's block buster films it does not have, or series or movie that left Netflix, it will suggest similar contents.

I am the sort that do not care for suggested contents, as there are so many great series and movies I haven't seen. Even from few streaming services that I subscribe to (Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix), there are just so many backlog of contents I haven't got around watching. If Netflix fails to create new compelling originals or keep raising price, I am definitely out. Heck, even the current pricing is ridiculous if you ask me.

Wonder how many viewers are watching Apple’s shows! I read most of the shows and not one is appealing to me. It more directed at the woman viewers and forgot about the guys.

Way off there. See, For All Mankind, and even The Morning Show are very appealing to men. There are stories about women also, but the central themes are universal. I could hear an argument that Dickinson appeals more to women, but the male characters on the show are very likable (even the father).
