Apple's online store now reflects a new expected shipping date:

Early U.S. Apple Store orders still show a March 20th ship date. Australian orders have been moved back to March 27th.

Meanwhile, Apple stores have started getting inventory in, but are unable to post materials until at least Wednesday.

If it had at least a 60Gb hard drive and worked with 'normal' TVs, I'd be really keen. Will be keeping an eye out for hands-on reviews, to see if there are any developments.

In the meantime, I keep eyeing a refurb'd 80Gb iPod for a simple video/music device for the living room and to take with us on trips.

Called up to get a free upgrade from 2day to next day shipping (read reports of others receiving complimentary upgrades), and the lady completely denied the :apple:tv had ever been announced as shipping in February. Even after I read her the email I received announcing the pushback.

Wow. That's pretty bad! Just call back and get someone else. I always do this with customer service until I get the answer that I'm looking for (when it's reasonable). :D I guess this Apple rep is just in outer space a little bit.

lol! Thankfully, I haven't had too do it yet with Apple, but it's done me fine with other companies. And the longest I've ever waited on hold with Apple was much less than five minutes. Usually, I get a person after a few rings, just like if I were calling a house. :) Very thankfully, I have only had to call 3 or 4 times with problems (twice for a bad open box mac mini that a friend bought). Yay for good customer service! :apple:

mine shipped :)

I got the notice from Apple that mine has shipped. I'm sure others will find their notices in the mailboxes in the morning when they wake up. Now I have something to look forward to playing with this week. :D

Shipped

Ordered mine on January 9th, 11:22am PST

Received notification of shipping at 12:32am PST on March 20th.
They are shipping from China via Fedex IP Direct Distribution, with arrival on Friday (all to be expected).

p.s.
I can only hope I do not hear I can walk into my Apple Store and pick one up today. I have been waiting since last year for this baby, and as you can see- I ordered ASAP. I might just end up owning two! lol

question

Hi
I'm really interested in getting an :apple: TV but have 1 question.

Do you need to have Airport Extreme? I'm currently hooked-up to an Airport Express.

If you do need an Extreme is it worth getting an :apple: TV as we all know it costs $299 plus $179 for the A/P Extreme, whereas I could get a basic Mini for $599 (diff $121).

What are the advantages :apple: TV has over a Mini?

Thanks in advance

can't wait, even though I will not be getting one as of yet, whats next, Apple TV Screens! sounds good!

I think a lot of users are going to find the AppleTV more useful than they first thought. There will be many third party utilities to enable you to get content onto it.

Plus, Elagto's products will play ball with AppleTV and make recording on your Mac and then transferring really easy.
