"Dickinson" was one of the first TV shows to be available on the Apple TV+ streaming service when it launched in November 2019, and it is set to wrap up with the third season, Apple announced today.

Season two of "Dickinson" premiered earlier this year, and season three is set to premiere on Friday, November 5. In the third season, Emily Dickinson (played by Hailee Steinfeld) sees her productivity fall amid the American Civil War and a battle that divides her own family. She tries to heal the divide around her, wondering if art can keep hope alive and if the future can be better than the past.

"Dickinson" stars Toby Huss, Adrian Blake Enscoe, Anna Baryshnikov, Ella Hunt, Amanda Warren, Chinaza Uche, and Jane Krakowski will return, as will Wiz Khalifa, who plays Death. Guest stars will include Billy Eichner, Chloe Fineman, Zosia Mamet, Will Pullen, and more.

The first three episodes will come out on November 5, with the remaining seven following on a Friday release schedule.

Loved this show. Glad it's getting to complete its series run with a final season...NOW Apple, when are the next seasons of Servant and Mythic Quest arriving?!

If this was any other studio, they would not allow the creator of the show to run only 3 seasons. It would be changed and dragged.

Apple appreciated the creator and didn’t interfere with its story line letting the show run as intended
It’s a good show. But sometimes shows will get stale after the 3rd season. So maybe it’s for the best.
Most shows really shouldn’t last longer than 3 or 4 seasons. Arrested Development comes to mind...

I completely understand why they release shows weekly but I still hate it. I would rather binge an entire show in a week or a weekend. So I will have to wait for more episodes to drop before going to season three. It's the same for See. As much as I want to watch this now, I will wait for more episodes to drop before I start this season.
Let's be honest, there just aren't enough Apple TV+ viewers yet to create spoilers all over the internet so the weekly releases don't matter too much. Once they find their stride and larger audiences with multiple hit shows, they could always change to full season releases all at a once. I heard some show runners have the option to release weekly or all at once in their contracts. Right now, most shows release 3 episodes up front and then weekly which is a decent compromise.

I mean, Netflix is kind of the opposite extreme, often canceling shows after two seasons not because they were unpopular or because the writers were done, but because The Algorithm™ determined that this was going to be the peak.

Spoilers aside, releasing in binge fashion just completely kills watercooler talk. These days, of course, not necessarily at a literal office watercooler but on places such as Twitter.

Could be saving face, but it sounds like from the creator (see link in original post) that the show was envisioned as a 3 season arc. If true, bravo for not pushing it further.
Definitely. I rewatched Season 1 of the walking dead recently, its only 6 episodes and they were all brilliant. The studios plan to drag out each season there after really makes some of it a hard watch.

Yes, the ones that don't do well with audiences. This series was designed to be 3 seasons so ending it is a choice by the creators.
Mythic Quest is finished, isn't it?
Far from it. Mythic Quest is waiting for a renewal announcement, the show is not meant to end at S2, although if the renewal doesn’t come then they can use the S2 finale as a natural exit point.

servant S3 should be announced as coming in October or November, I’m betting Halloween time. Or possibly January of 2022. S3 is already filmed.

I'm with the (few?) others in thinking this show isn't any good. I tried and tried, but wow, awful to the point of annoying. Like biting into a fruit and suddenly getting a moldly bit and now you can't get the taste out of your mouth. I'm surprised 3 seasons even. I know people love sap, but C'mon..

Not going to lie. First thought looking at the OP photo, "in what movie did Michael Jackson play a union soldier?" 🤣
I was just about to comment saying that whoever that is on the photo certainly looks a lot like Michael Jackson!

There is little worth watching on apple tv. Dickinson is an awful show. What is this desire to rewrite and distort history ? People cant come up with good new ideas ? For All Mankind is another waste of money.

I didn’t like FAMK art first but then I did, now I’m back on the “it’s a chore to watch”.
