Apple TV+ had a big night at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, with drama series Severance and comedy series The Studio leading the way.

Severance revolves around the mysterious company Lumon Industries. The company's employees cannot recall any memories about their personal lives while they are at work, and they cannot remember anything about the workplace when they leave the office. The series has an ensemble cast that has included Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, John Turturro, Tramell Tillman, Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken, and others.

The Studio is a satirical series about Hollywood's film industry. Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly-appointed head of the embattled Continental Studios, with other cast members including Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders. Guest stars include Bryan Cranston, Zoë Kravitz, Ron Howard, Olivia Wilde, Dave Franco, Martin Scorsese, Anthony Mackie, Steve Buscemi, and many others.

The Studio won the most awards of any series at the 77th Emmys, and it was the most-winning freshman comedy in history. Severance was the most-winning drama series.

the emmys are hard to follow , at least when I checked, it was much harder to comprehend and read all of it than it was with the oscars. can anyone chime in?

This years show was abysmal. The hosting was awful, the writing was cringeworthy, and the money joke was old in the first five minutes.

Adam Scott, Dan Erickson, and Severance got robbed by The Pitt. I had no idea that was even a thing. I could hardly believe Noah Wylie won for a warmed over ER concept in the same darn role as he was in on ER (but with a different name). Big upset there.

Exactly this ^

There’s a thin layer of irony in that Noah Wylie, whom once played Steve Jobs, beat out Adam Scott for Lead Actor in a show Apple themselves produced.

Honestly just can’t get into Severance show is just to weird for me.
I was pretty lukewarm warm on the first season, but I kinda loved the second season. I completely understand if the show isn’t for everyone. If you’re not feeling it then you can’t be expected to make it through the first season. It’s the trap of modern day serialized TV shows.

Noah Wyle and The Pitt deserved their wins. The Pitt is an excellent show.

I who rarely watch tv shows forced myself to watch Severance after starting it a bunch of times. After 2 episodes I got hooked. The Studio I just watched on a whim and it was funny but I've got friends in the biz and I've partied in LA before, it's actually toned down some from true life.

Not seeing what the big fuss is with Severance. I liked Pachinko much better. The Studio is good.

Same.

I wanted to love it, but got 5 episodes in and just wasn't getting on with it. I'd be happy to try and pick it up again, but getting my wife to buy in will be tricky, and TBH, don't really get the time to watch TV on my own.
That's fair and I've done it with many (great) shows including Breaking Bad! It took me a few attempts to persevere, get in the rhythm and then it just clicked with me.

Severance worked for me off the bat for whatever reason and you were probably oh so close to some key turning points where they start to achieve lift off 😁

Maybe I'll bribe her-there's a couple of things she wants to watch that I'm not overly fussed about, I'll see if I can do a trade!

You didn’t watch The Pitt so you can hardly call it warmer over. It was exceptional and absolutely worthy of a win.

It is absolutely a show you cannot watch folding the laundry. I remember a thread on Reddit about what one character kept on their desk in the background of a shot in Episode 5. It’s amazing but intense.

Someone described it to me as Lost with a plan.

Breaking bad is another one I couldn’t get into watched 3 episodes 5 years ago and never went back 😂.
