I've just woken my Apple TV from sleep to find there's a software update that i'm applying now. i wonder what it does?

There is indeed a new version out, iOS 4.3 build 8F305 and its 318.75Mb. The Apple TV reports it as 4.2.2.

Updating mine right now. Hopefully this fixes the YouTube videos order of appearance, they were in random order in the previous update not allowing me to view the latest videos from my subscriptions.

Please tell me this fixes HDCP errors that prevent me from watching Netflix or AirPlay videos. Anyone else have this issue that can confirm it was fixed with this update?

I'd run XBMC honestly. That's the main thing I want.

What is it about XBMC that you want? Because basically it's a big front end GUI. Is it video file format support? Or something else?

He downloads movies from warez sites mostly in mkv format, then he can stream the movies to the apple tv without converting

All for free

Update #2: Apple released a minor update to iOS 4.3 for AppleTV2G (the IPSW name still says 4.3, but the build version changed from 8F202 to 8F305). @i0n1c was once again able to quickly port his original 4.3.1 untether (the exploit that wouldn’t die!) to this version.

If you do feel like updating to the “new” 4.3 (although there doesn’t seem to be any good reason to), you’ll need to drop *this bundle into the correct folder in PwnageTool.app. If you don’t know how to do that, there are lots of tutorials on the web, and we’d be glad to help in the comments below.

i have a useless jb atv2 cause i dont use none of the features...theres no sound from xbmc

and i wanted to apply the update just to get rid of the jb and it does it half way and say failed😕

i still watch netflix thats basically what i do on it

The problem is with your HDMI cable. You need one with the newer standards, like this one from Amazon for $10.
