Hello. I have problem with ATV that started a few months ago. Randomly when switching to the ATV from another source there is no sound and the only way to bring back sound is to pull the plug out the back and back again. Then the sound is fine. This happens roughly 80% of the time.
I have reset the box but still the same issue. Is it time to get a new box? Its model number A2737 (64GB)
Also on another note if I may the ATV has started defaulting to showing Apple TV+ or whatever its called, I dont use it, and I have to press the home button again to return to the shelves

Thanks for any replies

Yes I have tried that and didn't work. Pulling the power cord out the box seems to be the only way to get the sound back. I don't have any issue with my dvd player or Freeview recorder just the ATV.

Tried a new cable and still the same issue. Had to switch off the ATV and on to get any sound. Think its time to get a new one unfortunately

1) Have you tried turning of the Continuous Audio Connection setting under Audio Format?
2) The support page explains how to change the tv button behavior: https://support.apple.com/guide/tv/adjust-remote-settings-atvb267f9798/tvos

Thanks, I think that might have fixed it. It was sporadic so time will tell but so far is working! Ive no idea what Continuous Audio Connection means or how it got changed but fingers crossed!
Also thanks for the info on where to find the setting for the home page.
Best wishes

I’ve been wondering if this issue is related to eARC or some kind of HDMI problem. Lately I’ve been having sound output issues that require unplugging power to the Apple TV and plugging back in. But also, sometimes when I sleep the Apple TV it doesn’t turn my TV off like it normally does. And if I’m on another input and I wake the Apple TV, it doesn’t switch to the Apple TV’s input like it normally does.
