Hello everyone,

I searched the forums and my Google fu is not working. I have a 4th gen Apple TV. Is there any way to turn off the “chime” noise the Apple TV makes when it’s tuened on and off? It’s not a huge deal but I just don’t like or see the need for the noise.

Thanks for the help.

I would expect not. I haven't had an AppleTV (aside from 3rd gen that doesn't make a chime), but based on how Macs work, you either need Terminal access or to turn off the volume.

Mine doesn't chime when I sleep\wake. Not sure if it because of the way I have it connected (ATV <> Home Theater Receiver <> TV with HDMI-CEC, or if it because I disabled clicks and such in Sound preferences.

First time I've heard that the Apple TV made a chime at boot-up. That's new to me....

Strange. Mine has always made a “chime” type noise on startup and when it turns off. I wonder if it’s my TV actually make the noise instead of the Apple TV? Although I don’t remember the TV making the noise before the Apple TV. I’ll have to check that.

Thanks for the reply. I just disabled clicks but I’m still getting the chime when I sleep/wake. It is very possible that I’m a complete idiot and it’s the tv making the noise and not the Apple TV.

Checking now now... the tv.. not my IQ. Lol
[doublepost=1516655457][/doublepost]Well the wife says it’s our actual TV making that noice. She remembers it doing it before we bought our Apple TV.

Thanks for all the replies.

I’m an idiot. Lol
