I'm sorry if this has been talked about too much but my search in the forum has become tedious and unsuccessful. Mods may close after a while.

Either direct me to the source or quickly answer.

I know there was a change with recent upgrades. But we never used to have so much trouble using airplay as we do now. Every time we play something now it stops playing when our device sleeps. We had to keep our stuff awake to get through certain things.

I know I've seen people explaining the reason and work around but I just wanted clarity on the "why" and what everyone here is doing about it.

Thanks!

iOS 9 currently has an issue in transitional stage of videos. Like after the HBO logo in HBOgo or in a commercial during YouTube. That isn't what you are describing though.

Also there is a bug that after using FaceTime AirPlay will sleep until you close and reopening the app.

Both were reported in the betas and both still exist.

Also like mentioned some devs just haven't done a good job with AirPlay and putting the app in the background or the device to sleep will stop the video. Other apps are just down right buggy all around when it comes to AirPlay.

Leave feedback to devs in the App Store to try to get them to address the issue. Even if it's iOS related because Apple is more likely address an issue with iOS if big name devs are requesting it.

Which apps are giving you trouble? MOST of the apps I use will AirPlay with the device asleep but not all like crunchyroll for example.

If they all do it then close all your apps and reset the device (home button + lock button until you see the apple logo). Also restart the Appletv (down + home until the led flashes rapidly or settings > general > restart)

Having issues with just about every app including Safari embedded videos.

Going to try resets on both devices because I can't remember if I've tried both or only one. LOL

Thanks for the feedback.
