It might come as a surprise for many in this forum but Tetris was and became popular before Nintendo and NES. Hardly anyone in Europe cared about consoles until well in the mid 90s; most gamed on home computers and arcade machines. Many consider the 80s the golden era of computing and gaming, the video game crash of 1983 was mainly a USA thing.

I love Tetris, but from that trailer the movie seems super-cringey.
Eh, sometimes, reality is cringey. I’ll give them some creative license leeway on it, but yeah, reality is rarely amazingly well acted! Some of the folks here that were around back in the day can attest to how cringey some of the folks leading technology were back then. Not everyone was a visionary, but everyone was absolutely trying to make a buck. And they weren’t afraid of going full cringey/cheesy in front of the right “money folks” in order to do so.

I wonder how much of this movie will be real and fictional, they usually add ton of fictional events and facts. One side heroic af and the other “eastern side” is not good

Love Tetris and am familiar with the story. This movie looks stupid as f*** but in a fun way hopefully. Gonna watch.

Also the trailer reminded me of this

Oh yeah, this is a great idea for a movie/series. I wonder why no one thought to make one before. The story is pretty incredible mostly because of the Soviet Union aspect.

Can anyone recommend a tetris game for OSX or iOS that does not suffer from ads, in-app purchases or stupid controls?

I'll bet you're the guy who got out of Empire Strikes Back ahead of me and drove through the parking lot past the line shouting "DARTH VADER IS LUKES FATHER". Does it make you feel important to tell everyone the story before they get a chance to see it?
Except in this case the story is and has been out there for decades for anyone who wants to look into it. His brief synopsis of the movie doesn't provide any specific spoilers that aren't already long established history.

Maybe take a deep breath and calm yourself. Meditation helps, too. ;-)

The original Tetris game was decent. The original Tetris music was awesome.

My favorite Tetris music track.... after the Korobelniki (Korobeiniki).... was Moscow Nights. Two Guitars was also good.

And yes, admittedly... those catchy original Gameboy soundtracks were..... (surprise!) Russian folk themes originating from the Soviet Union. The one exception is the title song Korobelniki. That song existed before the Soviet Union. It was a folk song from the Russian Tsarist era, the folk song possibly dating as far back as the mid-1800s.

The rock band Ozma, which I stumbled into on iTunes..... made a hard rock rendition of The Korbelniki, the title song of the Tetris universe. Give it a listen.

Here's a bonus for OG Mac gamers (like myself)....

On Youtube is the original soundtrack of the Spectrum Holobyte Tetris, which first appeared on the Mac Classic. Literally one of the earliest Tetris games to appear on an Apple platform.

OG Mac Gammers. Now I want to play the Oregon Trail. lol.

There is a new Oregon Trail remake for MacOSX.... but it's an Apple Arcade exclusive.

It seems to be one of the highest-rated games on Apple Arcade.
I will have to check that out. I have honestly not really been in the Arcade at all.

In the past Apple Arcade did not interest me.... but with titles like their new Oregon Trail... I might at least try their 90 day trial subscription. Or is it only 30 days?
I think it is 90 or was and some other avenues offer free trial but I have it through apples bundle as I used the other services and saved me money and my family can use a few things. I actually downloaded the game but haven't played it yet.
