Apple plans to incorporate Major League Soccer (MLS) content into its Apple TV streaming service starting in 2026, reports The Hollywood Reporter. MLS will no longer be a separate subscription, and games will instead be available as part of the base Apple TV service.

As of now, MLS games are accessible through the MLS Season Pass, which is priced at $14.99 per month or $99 for the season. The MLS Season Pass will be eliminated for the 2026 season, and soccer fans will have access to games through the standard $12.99 per month Apple TV subscription.

The MLS board of governors will need to approve the new deal between Apple and the MLS, but the aim is to expand the MLS fanbase and make MLS content easier to access. Apple's services chief Eddy Cue said that Apple is "thrilled to bring MLS to more fans around the world" next season.

Apple recently established a deal for Formula 1 rights in the United States, and F1 races will also be available to all Apple TV subscribers as Apple works to increase its live sports content.

having to call it "Apple TV streaming service" and "Apple TV box" or something like that is horrible. The average consumer (someone like my mom) is actually really confused. They either think my box is a subscription, the service comes with the box, or that the entire TV in my living room is made by Apple

Is this only for the USA as the F1?
Its a rumor so we don't know. The also suspect it will stay as a standalone subscription option as well. Currently all MLS season ticket holders get a subscription, and removing that would cause a ruckus, but giving Apple TV streaming service to everyone would also be an odd choice.

They just rebranded Apple TV as their streaming service - which makes sense. I suspect it's the box that will get a totally different rebranding and positioning. No longer will it be just a box you plug into your TV for streaming services, it will also serve as the central hub of your home network. Maybe. Prob not. Ha. I do know it'll be called Apple something. 😜 Apple Home... Apple Hub... ApplePort... Apple Connect... Something similarly as goofy.

I love this MLS announcement. Surprising. Looking for the catch. But do approve of them enhancing their Apple TV offering without another additional payment. I'm so over the corporate nickel and dime-ing. The Google/Disney debacle that has seen Disney's content (ESPN, ABC, etc.) removed from YoutubeTV subscribers' feeds so billionaire corporations can fight over even more billions, is infuriating.

How much is the MLS paying Apple to carry their soccer programming? All I want is ability to delete the listing from Apple TV.
You know, I get it. I don't watch it and would rather not see it. BUT.. I do recognize that an Apple platform will advertise and promote their stuff more than others. It just makes sense. I expect the same from Amazon on a Fire stick or Roku on one of their boxes. What is REALLY annoying me is Netflix not playing nice with Apple and not providing Up Next or ability to search for their content like every other streaming platform I have. And I don't get it, makes me forget I have Netflix at times.

I just don't understand why people don't get bundled streaming services from their cellular provider. That includes Apple TV streaming service. I can get Apple One from Verizon for $10/month. They normally do not raise the price. I think they raised the price ONCE in the 25 years I have been with Verizon since they started offering these services. Even with the Disney+ price hime a few weeks ago, Verizon did not change their price for the bundle with ESPN+ and HULU+ (not live TV).

Seriously. I hate when a live game comes up on my home screen. I (and most of the USA) don't care about soccer.

BTW, I think that Apple is the one who paid for the rights to stream MLS. Not the other way around.
