I'm sure this is merely a grievous typo which will soon be corrected by Apple:

"The hardly-new Apple TV."

These countries will get the new :apple:tv, US and the rest of the world will have to stick with the old.

I seriously fail to see where the Apple TV is "All-new"!
It was released in the US 13 months ago, so looks more like "All-old" to me...

Great to see that Apple finally got their eyes open for the European market, but it is way too late. I bet the story with the iPad just repeats itself. Release the iPad in Norway in December 2010 (April 2010 in the US), then the iPad 2 just 3 months later - March 2011.

I will wait for the next gen. Apple TV.

For what it's worth I can tell that the danish version will have the product code MC572KN/A.

The US version is MC572LL/A. The KN and LL is just for the country, so no 'new' Apple TV :-(

The moment Apple TV is 1080 able is the moment I buy an Apple TV.
Somehow I doubt Apple is going to release it on Tuesday, and this "all-new" designation is just fluff repackaging for those few countries.

Not sure I get this, the resellers here in Belgium have had ATV2's in stock for ages.

Now giving us some content via iTunes, that would be something!

And yes, AirPlay is fabulous, already using it through and Airport Express to stream ALAC optical to my DAC. for such a cheap device the quality is fantastic. Now Apple, please remove the bit and sample-rate throttle you have on it!

There is only a handful of stores in Belgium that sells Apple TV, and they import them themselves. In fact, there might even be problems with getting it fixed if it breakes since it's not officially here.

I would be really surprised if this is a new Apple Tv, but rather the continuing rollout of the existing model

iTunes Store Prices ridiculous

Apple TV might be good, but the price of buying films in the iTunes Store for Norway is complete ripoff, especially when you can get the same titles online for half the price, including postage from play.com.

Seriously, those doing the pricing in the iTune Store should wear masks, but they ain't robbing me.

Considering there were 3 years between Apple TV gen 1 and 2, and the current one being barely a year old, then I would say yes.

On a related note, I was rather disappointed when I finally bought my Apple TV yesterday - I had expected it to be quite a bit larger. Instead, it looks like it is cowering in the shadow of my amp :D

1. Why would you want a big box in your living room? Are you a size queen? Most of the world is trying to de-clutter and embrace less boxes or smaller.

2. Just because it's not citing it to be a new model, doesn't mean it couldn't be. It's an odd date to launch it in new countries, and it was rumored several times this year to be getting a bit of an internal update.

The only thing that would be nice really would be more on board storage and 1080P, but most people don't seem to understand that unless their tv is over 50", the 1080P is not of any real benefit. It's all marketing. The human eye can't see any more detail in that size/definition range unless you have super hero vision.

I love my Apple TV, but it has quirks about it. I sometimes wonder if a memory boost might not be helpful too.

Not much point offering a 1080p AppleTV unless you're selling 1080p content.

Not much point in trying to sell 1080p content unless there is hardware in homes that can play 1080p content.

Hardware must lead. Get enough 1080p :apple:TVs in homes and some Studio will be tempted to test 1080p content via the iTunes store. It just doesn’t work the other way.
