I have had an Apple TV 3 for a while but over last year have not ben using it. I have moved and in doing so, revamped my network. The device worked fine in the past however now I have a bizarre issue. My router name is the same however the password has changed and both 5 gig and 2.4 gig which is the same as the past. For some reason, the device has held the old password, I am not able to change it, does not ask when I do a search for wireless. If I plug in direct its fine but there is no Cat5/Cat6 in the area I wanted to install this device. Wireless signal all over the home is 100%. I have renamed the router and still messages "The password is incorrect".
1. I have reset the device.
2. I have reset and wiped out all data.
3. I have replaced .ispw and factory settings were done now more than 5 times.
4. All Factory settings restored.
It is acting as though it has cached the router name and will only auto the password. I do not get the opportunity to replace or see the password, it offers "Router Name" and then tries to log in.
I have setup a hotspot off my PC laptop and it connected fine asking for password but my main network same error "incorrect password".
I would have expected a flash of firmware to release that but it is not happening. I just want to be able to change the password but this thing is possessed with the old one and even when I try to old password on the router, still does not connect so appears to be corrupt. Any ideas I may have missed? Sorry if this is the wrong area for the question but due to frustration this is as far as I went into the site.
Thanks in advance.

There's a micro usb port on the back of the Apple 3rd gen that can be used for restoring the device on iTunes. You might and give that a try..

I would start with your network setup not the AppleTV. Are you certain your network is allowing the AppleTV to even access it remotely? Because if it's on a blocked list, it doesn't care what password you use, it's going to deny access. You will get the same 'password is incorrect' whether it is indeed a typo on your part or if the network is blocking the device.

The fact that the device works wired and wirelessly through a PC hotspot suggests it's either the location of the device to your network (hence the hotspot working) or the network is blocking the device... again since the hotspot worked.
