The Netflix app on Apple TV is the absolute worst. But if you have a lot of iTunes content, there's not much else you can do until Apple finally gets off their butts and releases the new hardware.

To each their own. I prefer the Apple TV version better than any other. The layout just makes much more sense to me. The only thing I don't care for is that it can take up to like 5 clicks to start a video once get into the series, episode, then click play, then click "resume or start over". But that is a minor inconvenience compared to the messy interfaces on other devices.

I switched over to a FireTV stick because you can load Kodi on it and have a lot more access to different things. I used to have it on an old AppleTV but you can't load it on the new ones.

Sorry. We just upgraded to 150 Mbps, too. ;-)
Thats really slow. I recently upgraded to FTTB at 1gig. Never ever see 1 gig but regularly see 500meg down and 800 meg up. One thing I learned from the upgrade is that power line adapters are crap, i never see better than 50 Meg on them. With wireless AC i can get 200 meg.

On the subject of streaming devices I got rid of my Apple tv and now use chromecast exclusively.
A big user of Plex and if a new apple tv is launched with Apps I will reconsider it.

I have an Apple TV, Roku, Fire, and bluray player with Netflix. The Netflix app on Apple TV is the only version of the app that will start in Super HD immediately without having to wait for the stream to ramp up to Super HD. That alone makes it superior to all others. Nothing is worse than watching the beginning of a TV episode be a pixelated mess, waiting for the stream to ramp up to Super HD.

Has anyone managed to get decent performance from the airplay apps available on the fire TV STICK?

2 appletv and a fire stick. Fire stick is jail rowen with Kodi and I've been using it a lot more than the appletv. Overall though, I like the Apple TV much better,

I have a 2 Amazon fire tvs, Apple TV 3 and Apple TV 2. Ive replaced most of my older Apple TV 2s with fire tvs. The Amazon fire tvs are used for Xbmc/kodi which it runs very well, no crashes and very fast when compared to my older Apple TV 2s. I also use the fire tvs for YouTube which I prefer the interface and has more functions. The Apple TV 3 is used exclusively for AirPlay. I also like using like my Apple TV 3 for Netflix, the interface is better than on the Amazon fire TV.

I should say don't get the FireTV Stick, just get the FireTV. The stick is super slow. I have been having issues with mine all week long. I should have just spent the extra money

2 Apple TVs, 2 Fire Sticks. Fire sticks for me are easier to travel with. Apple TV has NBC Sports Live Extra app, Fire Stick does not. Fire Stick has Fox Sports Go, while Apple TV does not. Fire Stick's price is so low that you can't expect much. Use the Amazon Fire TV app on iPhone for a better user experience.

Have original Apple TV but it is tired. Can't decide to upgrade or switch to Amazon Fire TV Stick. Anyone have experience with both? Pros & Cons of both? Thanks!

Patience. A new Apple TV 4 coming in September promises to be vastly superior to the prior ATV3. Think of a screenless iPhone 6 with all the content support of iPads and iPhones plus the "always on" ability to control house functions, with supported devices, remotely over the web or with smartphones, tablets or with the bundled remote (Game Controller will be extra cost).

The gaming on the Apple TV 4 will bring Apple back to favor with gaming fans. The new Apple Game Controller and voice activated remote (with touch pad) will exceed the Amazon Firebox TV in ease of use and capabilities. Apple will have a very good 4th quarter/2015 and 1st quarter/2016. It will be the thing to get for Xmas.

105 Mbps? I hate you. :mad::p

I have a 25Mbps connection, and it's perfectly fine for everything. Netflix, HBO, MLB, etc all stream in the highest quality. I rarely get actual internet downloads or torrents that go faster than 5Mbps. Even though most speed tests show I actually get 25-30Mbps. I just don't see what the benefit of 100Mbps+ is, other than bragging rights, for someone who browses the net and streams video.

I have set up several ATV for friends and more over the last few years and most seem to be very happy with this choice as it fits their desire for an "Apple Eco System." However, some did outgrow the ATV within months.

Depending on what you want to do with an appliance like the ATV, there are many options out there that do quite well for the buyer. The latest I am investigating is the Nvidia Shield TV. I rarely use superlatives, but so far this one seems for my needs to be the very best. It has a long list of what it does rather well including 4k, google apps and games, a way to get Amazon Prime to work for videos as well as Netflix and plays 7.1 audio (to name a few).

I'll still consider the ATV for some folks as it is "easy" and many seem happy to just get media from the Apple buy/rent store. For me, I just order the Nvidia and eagerly await the opportunity to hook up a drive with media and install Kodi.

Starting at $199 the Nvidia Shield is also double the price of what an Apple TV 3 was priced at. I think most of what you mentioned the Nvidia Shield now does (4K, extensive apps and games, 7.1 audio, etc.) will be available on the next ATV 4 for less anyway.
