I just got my ATV3. I am a Windows user. What is the best way and quick way to covert the MKV movie files to play with AC3 5.1 sound. I know Handbrake can do it but it recodes, it is slow and you lose quality. I have tried XMedia Recode but I can not get the sound to work only stereo sound works not AC3 5.1.

You could just get the atv flash software and that will allow you to play any file format you like on the apple tv
YAMB does not like the DTS sound in my source file. It is very old and outdated application. Xmedia Recode is a much better option.

It looks a good app. It does not play with AC3 sound. If I have both stereo and AC3 sound then it will only work with the stereo sound. I can not use the AC3 track. It won't play with th AC3 stream even within the iTunes.
What specs does the AC3 sound stream needs to be?
