Funny. All I read everyday on these forums is how Apple is dying. Has lost its way... yadda, yadda, yadda.

Yet it seems companies still gravitate to Apple. They still see their products as the bench mark.

I remember when Microsoft were dominant and they received a lot of hate. I assumed it was because Windows was a bad product (I'm talking the days of Vista) but now Apple are dominant and receive hate with great products... I think it's just being popular that does it.

I just look at it as $150 for a smoother conversation (in the case of being able to airplay in a conference room) or better entertainment experience (in the case of not having to deal with in room entertainment systems and commercials). That's worth it to me. If I took them home with me I'd just have a pile of Apple TVs around the house as I already have one on every screen here. I suppose I could just keep one in my bag as I travel but I'm a minimalist when it comes to travel and already even refuse to bring my laptop (I travel with just an iPad Pro).

I just wish i earned enough money to just leave £130 devices in hotel rooms then just go and buy another one.

This assumes he is paying for it out-of-pocket. I could easily see his employer picking up the tab (either directly or via expense reimbursement).

Pretty sure Marriott is already testing at least the digital key feature.

They're behind. The Hilton family of hotels started rolling out digital keys a couple of years ago. I recently stayed at a Hampton that had it.

While it probably would've been faster to whip a plastic keycard out in most instances (because you have to wait for the Hilton app to load, authenticate with Touch ID, tap "Unlock Room", etc.), I greatly preferred the digital key. I checked in in the parking lot of the hotel, the digital key was ready on my phone within seconds, and I walked right to my room and let myself in. It worked flawlessly for the few days I was at the hotel.
