Target always does nice , very clean displays compared to Walmart. Good exposure will hopefully sell more ATV's. I received mine last tuesday, and I just was'nt prepared for how much I would love this thing. It simply rocks, the interface is perfect in it's simplicity, and the encodes I've made with Handbrake in anamorphic mode look simply Stunning, heck even the 640x480 Mpeg 4 encodes look great, just slightly larger and a bit less defined. Thru a shipping Snafu I was sent and billed for 2 devices. I was set to return one but I might just keep it for my Basement HT.

Like Walmart, almost.

It's a store, haha. http://www.target.com/

Hah, Target is nothing like Wal*Mart. Well, they're both big-box retailers, but Target isn't notorious for "White Trash" -- or any trash, for that matter.

Target is two steps ahead of Wal*Mart, and by far my favorite big-boxer. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a 24-hour Target. Wal*Mart, on the other hand, is a favorite lurking-grounds for my friends and I when we are bored at 2 am.

There's some speculation that Costco now has them as well...

I saw sign-age for the Apple TV at the local Sams Club (Wal*Mart Derivative) but my d*mn 8700 Blackberry doesn't have a camera or I would have taken a pic.

This just lowers the overall feeling of mac products.

I remember when you had to exclusively go to a apple store to purchase anything mac.

Now just walking into a store that sells cheap electronics and food
gives you the ability to come out with an awesome mac apple logo infected product? There is something wrong with this picture IMO.

And lets not get startedat how amazing im sure target will have the display setup & the knowledgeable staff with a proper answer to whatever question you may have regarding the product.

Could this be any snobbier of a comment?

My God, it's a product...a piece of plastic and metal. Who cares?

You really need to adjust your priorities in life.

We haven't got this change yet in my store...that would be awesome though. Im sure we will have a revision coming to add it into the ipod/zune/mp3 aisle.

Yeah, elitists...

That's because you're a silly elitist who stakes your personal identity on what purchases you make. Get over yourself. Its good for Apple. That means its good for Apple's customers.

I must be an elitist because I cringe at the thought of a person trying to ask a question about ATV and having the Target asshat having no idea what is going on about it at all. Sure. Having underpaid, unmotivated, unknowledgeable asshats peddling Apple branded products gives Apple a great name. We are not elitist, but it is the quality of every aspect of buying Apple products that keep people buying and/or switching over to Apple.

I would bet $20 that the Target guy would not know to tell the person it has to be connected to a 16:9 TV................

It really depends on the time of day you go. If at night, most of the team members you would encounter would be high schoolers and they could care less what you want unfortunately.

Go around 9 or 10 and you'll get great service because that's when more of the higher paid folks are working who know what they are talking about. Plus there are a lot less people shopping and you'll actually be able to find someone to help you.

Regardless of what you may think, Target educates their employees quite well, especially in Electronics. I've actually learned a thing or two about some products by reading the monthly literature they send on them.

My Target's display is different. It went from old Nano and speakers and a Zune display to the Nano display in the picture (no Zune). The :apple: tv is connected to a TV just displaying ":apple: tv, Changing the way you Watch TV." or something like that.

Found at Coscto, Apple TV, box was huge

Interesting that these units are showing up at stores just one week away from a Macworld keynote where many anticipate the :apple:TV finally getting some much-needed attention...

Apple TV Box size

I saw the box 2 weeks ago, it was so big you would need two people to pick it up.

With Sony winning the HD disc war I bet they will go against Apple and make Round 2 of the fight for downloads. The Apple TV is a cool little gadget, but Apple better move fast and make it a lot more attractive or Sony and Microsoft are going to completely steal this market away from them.

The iPod gives Apple tons of leverage when it comes to things like this. No one is going to want to pay for iPod downloads, and then again for Sony/Microsoft downloads. If you really want something that will play your media on your TV, and you have an iPod, the Apple TV would be the best way to go. Because of this factor, in my opinion it would be hard for Sony or Microsoft, or any company for that matter to steal with market away from Apple.
