Apple, Universal and Microsoft

What makes people think that Apple can not afford to buy Universal?

While I doubt they would pay 100% cash, last time I saw an update they had about $12 billion in the bank. So if Universal is going to cost $12 billion plus debt then, ok, Apple can't afford them but otherwise....

Judging the players in this deal: You have the oil tycoon, Microsoft and Apple. I think it's in the best interest of the consumer if Apple takes it. The oil tycoon knows nothing about the business and Microsoft is out to proprietise (sp?) the universe.
