Can we have straight pride bands as well? I mean if you need a band to call out what you like, isn’t that unfairly excluding others? Just saying….

You can have a straight pride band when you can be executed in certain countries just for being straight, when you could potentially lose your job or not be hired for a job because you're straight, when other straight people had to riot and get arrested just to have the same rights as anyone else, when you still have to worry about holding hands with your partner in the streets for fear of being assaulted, when there is new legislation coming out every day trying to strip you of your rights and freedoms, and the list could go on and on.

Be grateful you don't need a straight pride band.

To be fair, I think claiming that a color is not aesthetically pleasing is not necessarily any kind of “implicit belief and assumption.” It could just be that some people think the color brown is not exciting visually. When kids mix paints, I don’t think many are excited when they all turn brown when combined. And since such things are completely subjective, there really is no way to be “wrong” about it.
Of course, it’s okay for any one person to not like any one colour. The issue is when it becomes more than just a typical preference, and becomes a dominant idea in society. Then, if you don’t stop and ask why that is, that's the problem.

Challenging your own ideas and assumptions is healthy. If you still come away thinking “I just don’t like that colour”, then fine. Enjoy your preferences. But when blanket statements are frequently thrown around, like the one that started this discussion, that’s…not great.

Sounds pretty straighphobic to me.

No, it isn't.

Well said, and an excellent illustration of the extent to which being LGBT isn't just about "what you do in the bedroom".

So This magic band protects from execution? Ill take two!

It’s okay to question your implicit beliefs and assumptions, like “huh, maybe that’s a point I need to think about some more”, there’s no need to feel guilty about anything. It’s not about making you or anyone else feel guilty, it’s just about raising the possibility that maybe you’re wrong about something. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I’m sorry. “Wrong” about what? Thinking the color brown is ugly? I am what the media these days loves to refer to as “brown” or POC, and I hate the color brown. What do you suppose that means? it could just mean what is written: I hate the color brown. But this is the internet and something that straightforward would not be any fun, I guess.

Looks like they are seriously struggling to add all the colours. It is ridiculous how many colours keep getting added to this representation. Think it’s about time the community involved came up with something a bit simpler and just included everyone they want to represent. It was colourful at first, now it’s become a bit of a mess.

This is pathetic. Apple needs to stop spotlighting differences among people. And no, I won’t celebrate people for what they choose to do in their bedrooms.
Here's a suggestion. Boycott anything and everything Apple (and that includes MacRumors) until they stop spotlighting differences among people. If it bothers you so much, put your money where your mouth is.

But we know you won't.

This looks great. Like a fiesta in my wrist. I’d get one but aren’t they changing the locking mechanism later this year?
this is the only thing where I’m like “hmm okay Apple I see you, keeping up with the yearly Pride releases but I know what’s going on behind the scenes…”

LOL, get ready for dongle-gate 2.0, tiny little bits attaching to either end of your old bands so they can go on newer watches🤣

Can Apple maybe post a pic of the actual band? You can barely see it...
Apple won't until it's available to order, and even then it will just be computer renders.

I got you, though.

yikes the amount of angry gross replies in here because Apple dared to be inclusive to all…
Apple's inclusivity extends to everything.

Just look at their most recent action in the EU. So that app developers who want to offer their apps on a third party app store or available to download off the web don't feel left out of paying Apple a commission, they created the Core Tech Fee. Just for them.

How thoughtful Apple was in not forgetting about them. 🤣

This is quite a trash response considering what this post is about….
