What are the base RAM and SSD sizes? Do they also have Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity like the M5 Air?
the ssd base doubled to 1tb. Unfortunately the price also increased to accomodate this. So it's not like how they gave 8gb for free when they launched m4

Increasing the base storage during the memory famine is an interesting move but the margins are still huge anyway

Not a fan of the spec options. For the 14" MBP, if you want 36 GB of RAM you must upgrade to the M5 Max with a 2 TB SSD. The Pro only comes with 24 GB or 48 GB of RAM. I won't complain about more RAM, but for some of us, 24 GB is too little and 48 GB is more than some people really need.

Still $2600 (education pricing) for a M5 Pro (18 core CPU, 20 core GPU) with 48 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD isn't too bad. I could go to 64 GB of RAM for under $2800. Tempting, but my M1 Pro is still plenty fast.

So is the Max an Ultra: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/new-m5-chips-spotted-in-ios-26-3-beta.2477190/post-34414753 or will there even be one?

Or is this stacking chips and going 3D, rather than an even larger chip and issues with yield?!

UK, 16" maxed-out (w/ 3yr AC+, minus £150 nano screen):

£7.7k !!

They even charge £99 for the frigging 140W charger, FFS!
Tell me that's not ridiculous, when the M1 maxed-out at £6.25k in 2021 (over 23% higher!)

EDIT:
Yes, I obviously know how inflation works(!), but this is more than that... See why, here: #81.

Looks like they're intentionally raising base prices by removing lower configurations... M5 Pro comes only with 1TB and more SSD and M5 Max with 2TB? Yikes. Not every person need 2TB storage, but some people want bigger screen and faster SOC.
They did exactly the same with Pro iPhones...

Oh wait, they did the same with regular M5 - 512GB is no longer available.

People asked for more storage in base configurations and Apple said - here you go, but you still have to pay more lol

fwiw I think inflation has exceeded 23% in the last 5 years since then so I'm not sure its more expensive real terms
