Ahead of its iPhone-centric event set to take place on Tuesday, September 12, Apple has updated its Apple Events app designed for the fourth-generation Apple TV, adding new artwork and details about the upcoming keynote.

"Watch the first-ever special event held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California," reads the text of the updated app. The date and time for the event, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time are listed, and the app's icon and internal art has been updated with the multi-colored Apple logo featured on media invites.

The Apple Events app will be used to live stream the iPhone event on the fourth-generation Apple TV, and it can be downloaded from the tvOS App Store for no cost. [Direct Link]

Those who have already downloaded the app should see the update automatically, but it can be forced by finding the app in the tvOS App Store and selecting "Update."

Apple's event is expected to include the revamped OLED iPhone 8, an iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, an LTE Apple Watch, and a 4K Apple TV.

For those unable to watch Apple's live stream, which is also available on Apple's website, MacRumors will be providing live coverage here on MacRumors.com and on our MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

This is going to be one of their most epic events in a LONG time.

We'll get a look at Apple Park and Steve Jobs Theater, see the 10th anniversary iPhone with OLED, Face ID etc, new Apple TV, new Apple Watch and other features we haven't heard about.

So excited for Apple Pay Cash too.

And then later... HomePod, iMac Pro, Beats Studio3... Damn.

Very exciting. I just hope Hurricane Irma doesn't spoil the excitement for us living in Florida. :(
Hurricanes have this magic ability to take out the inner chaos to the outside by means of psychological projections for some people these weather phenomena are as exciting as the iPhone it take them out of their everyday emotional misery and makes them feel alive it gives them a temporary purpose in life

One last service from the old Apple TV, like a sacked worker being forced to give training to his replacement.

I would be more concerned about one(s) safety of self, families, friends and pets as a priority than materialistic things that can be replaced.
I am, that's why I spent all day today preparing. I'm also counting on this event as I'm waiting for Xcode 9 final so I could submit to the App Store, and it seems I'm not going to be able to get it when it comes out.

Works on Apple TV Gen 3 also as far as I can tell. Just looked and the icon was there. Was about to get pissed if this was 4th gen only. I can afford neither the 4th gen TV nor the iPhone 8. Still curious to see it, though.

FYI it appears they updated the Events app on the third-generation Apple TV as well.

I wonder how long they'll keep that up?

It's good your safety is a priority. Head well inland, to somewhere safe - like Detroit! :p

I've been watching keynotes on the Apple TV since it was possible. I remember it wasn't a great experience at the beginning but over the years the quality has substantially improved.

Anyone remember the one with the bizarre foreign voice over sound?

I watched that live. It was crazy. Pretty interesting how far they have come.

Here is hoping Apple brings it all together in the new theater:
iPhone - iPhone Pro
iPad - iPad Pro
iMac - iMac Pro
Mac (formerly Mac Mini) - Mac Pro

I had better download the App tonight. Apart from ripping dvds and watching them from the cloud., the keynote will be the only useful function for those of us in the U.K.

Not like we have BBC, Now TV, Netflix or iTunes is it...

When I bought the original Apple TV imo it was ahead of its time.

I also remember a piece of software called First Row? that brought all your music, vids in one place and had a carousel like interface. I'm sure this came out before the original Apple TV too.

I don't know about others but I feel Apple haven't advanced the platform and now been taken over by the competition.

However I also think the biggest issue has been the movie/ tv industry not letting Apple have their way and dominate like they did with music.

Here's hoping Apple can finally move forward and innovate again but I hold my breath with TC on charge.
