iTunes in the cloud is great, finally! I used iTunes Match originally to update all my old music files but let it renew because I liked have music access directly via my Apple TV without having to have a computer on or my iPad/iPhone handy; now I can cancel my iTunes Match renewal this year.

Okay so it doesn't have my ripped CD music, but I can live with that and Airplay when I cannot for the cost of saving $25 a year.

All my ripped CD music is in iMatch. Doesn't music not in iTunes just get uploaded into the iCloud via the iMatch system?

Finally, all purchased music videos can now be viewed on the Apple Tv.

Wondering if that would ever happen.

NHL -- please?

Would it have killed 'em to add the NHL icon that US customers get for us over here in the UK? I know it's not a huge audience, and I could hack into it by changing to the US Store, but come on. Make it easy, guys.

This has always been possible. I've had all 3 ATVs and never been a problem.

You are correct.

I forgot to add "access videos without my main computer on".

If there was a way to access it through the cloud, I never figured it out.

I believe this was added in a software update awhile ago. So maybe you're not up to date? My Apple TV is a 2nd gen too.

Unless you mean playlists for TV Shows and Movies from the cloud, in which case there are no playlists. This is just for movies and TV shows from computers.

Yeah I've toggled it on, but I'd have to manually make a playlist for each season and add the shows to it? That is rather cumbersome. The TV shows should be listed by show, then season, then episode. At the moment all the seasons appear in the TV Show browser on ATV, so for some shows there are say 10 items in the list whereas there should just be the show name, same way iTunes does it.

How long is this update supposed to freaking take? Mines been stuck for 30 minutes it seems.
Mine literally took 4+ hours yesterday. I just let it go since I wasn't using it anyway — I assume it was just server congestion.

Messing around with the keyboard, I realized that even on the home screen, you can start typing the first few letters of the channel you want and it will jump to it. Then you just hit return and you're in. Actually quite a bit quicker than the remote if you type at all quickly.

Where is the "iTunes in the cloud" feature located...?
When I go to the music app, it's still asking me if I wanna turn iTunes Match on...and believe me, I def don't wanna do that again...
I would soooo like to use iTunes in the cloud. Does it not show up because I'm still in my iTunes Match subscription period even though I turned it off...?

Yeah, it sucks unless you use the iOS remote. That lets you use the iOS keyboard at least.

Sadly, ATV won't pair with my 5g Touch, so I can't use the Touch to enter the ATV Wifi password when the time comes. I would love to be wrong about this, but it just ain't happening so far.

Yes but if you cancel match that music will not be available for streaming from iTunes in the cloud on the apple TV. You must airplay or home share it.

I like this cloud based thing, I had a Mac Mini crash on me recently with all my media in it. My son watches movies weekly through AppleTv and we were worried that with the crashed Mini that this would be a little troubling. Well streaming from the cloud worked out perfectly, especially since it took over a month to get a new iMac....

Ugh!

Remote app isn't working anymore on iPad 4 and iPad mini after 6.1 update....
Can't connect to Apple TV3, it sees apple tv and connects to iTunes library, but not to the apple tv.
Still works fine on iPhone 4S.

Same problem here. I re-updated and got it to finally connect, but now its flakey on wake-up from remote app on iPad 3 (it will wake up, but then doesnt respond to a request to play a song for quite some time). REALLY makes me mad that every other update breaks things. I am so foolish to "update" from what was a flawless setup.

Is there a way to downgrade this thing? ATV3.

Because you have iTunes Match it will only stream using that. This November when Match renews, if you select not to renew then you will be able to use iTunes in the cloud, but know it will only stream iTunes purchased music. Any music ripped from CD's can only be streamed via Airplay or Home Sharing. That is the one advantage Match has, if you have a lot of ripped music you can stream all of it from the cloud so long as you keep paying for iTunes Match.

For me, I only have about 200 songs or so ripped from CD's so I canceled my iTunes Match auto-renew and will just stream my iTunes purchased music on my Apple TV. If I really want to listen to any of my ripped music I will just Airplay it from one of my iDevices. But if you have a ton of ripped music and do not want to have to always bother with airplaying or having a computer on then maybe keeping iTunes Match is worth it.

Same here. IPad 2 and iPhone 4S. After updating 4 ATVs (2x2g & 2x3g) to 6.1 I can't reach them using Remote app on the iPad. But It works from the iPhone. I rebooted the ATVs, iPad & my Time Capsule but still no luck.

[*]And the pleasant surprise: While in a menu with lots of items e.g. a list of music artists, pressing a keyboard letter instantly jumps to that letter in the list. No more holding the Down button! ZZ Top fans rejoice! :D
[/LIST]
That alone may be reason enough to pick up an apple Bluetooth keyboard for the living room. When are they going to redesign the album/artist selection to resemble that of the new iTunes and music/remote app for ipad? The endless list of albums in a column with pointless non-selectable cover flow artwork filling 66% of the screen has got to go.

as far as im aware you cant browse the net on the apple tv,
but it has a processor capable of doing so.
would it be too much for someone to port safari to the ATV.

That would be nice.

And how would you browse pages, interact with roll down menus, follow links in text? This would be a horrible experience...

Does the new bluetooth capability only support keyboard input, or would a keyboard that had a trackpad integrated into it also work?

Apple's support site states that the new Bluetooth functionality only supports keyboards. Audio via Bluetooth is not supported, at least not officially.

Too bad, it would have been very helpful for those people who like to watch TV at night while their spouse sleeps. Just a pair of Bluetooth headphones would have been enough. There's no Airplay headphones available yet, and if there were, there would be very expensive I'm sure.

Workaround, use an Airport Express next to your bed, and connect regular headphones to it. :D

Try removing and reinstalling the Remote app, make sure there's no password requirement on the AppleTV. I wonder if any new settings were implemented.
I have an iPad 3. I'll check it out later.

No Amazon Prime Instant Video = Fail !!

C'mon Apple...make your product more desirable.

i wouldnt hold my breath for this -- the prime offerings are a direct competitor to the itunes offerings.

you should be more upset at amazon -- ask yourself why have they not enabled airplay-out on their Prime app? because....they dont want you on apple products. they want you on amazon hardware.

so who sucks more?
