I can't find any info regarding the Wifi version. I know Minis came out with 6e. I was hoping for the laptops that would at least be the latest Wifi 7 version. I wonder why this isn't listed in the specs when purchasing.

On Apple's web page - way at bottom:
MacBook Pro also supports both Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 to connect to the internet and your wireless devices.

Wi-Fi 6E. Looks like these were drop in replacements for the chip only.

The Wi-Fi 7 spec is not officially ratified yet. If you buy it now then you are gambling that software can adjust for any last minute changes. Apple's parts were sourced months ago.

"While final ratification is not expected until the end of 2024, the technical requirements are essentially complete, and as of February 2024 there are already products labeled as Wi‑Fi 7."

Much like the very odd Apple Intelligence roll-out, releasing all of its primary devices where all but one (iPhone Pro) has the latest wifi standard, is completely nonsensical in my opinion. Was it really so technically difficult for them to add wifi 7 to Macs and iPads which likely connect via wifi more than the iPhone? Get it together Apple.

I guess I'm now checking in like everyone else who bought the M3 Pro 14" Pro / 18GB when it was on sale for $1499 to see if I feel stupid for not waiting.

And... eh. OK. I still got my money's worth at least figuring in the discount.
i almost pulled the trigger on this as well. not sure if waiting for the m4 was worth it. open to opinions.....

The M3pro 14" with the pro chip was worth it at $1499 I would say. I've had it for a couple of months, too. The base M4 for $1599 may do some things a bit better… figuring in the price and time difference, I'd say it's about right. This is without heavy benchmarking, mind you.

But this all looked to me like expected evolutionary progress. Nothing revolutionary.

Scored a pretty good deal over the weekend on a standard M3 MacBook Pro with 16 gb ram and 1 TB hard drive...was only $1275. Now I need to fight the urge to return it :D

The laptop now supports up to two external displays with up to 6K resolution, even when the lid is open.
Can someone please tell me if the MBP supports multiple high refresh monitors at once? I would think it's just a bandwidth thing. If it supports 2 monitors at 6k60, I don't see why it wouldn't support 2 monitors at 1440p144. Apple's documentation always mentions ONE monitor at 4k240, therefore it's not clear.

Base model pro is a pretty good deal now

I think I’m in for one

Education deal is nice for Canadians compared w second hand m1/m2/m3 14” pros

£200 increase from M3 in the UK but includes the extra port, 16GB and space black option.
Wrong. The prices are down £100 across the board with the 8GB RAM bump across the board.

Nice that people will be now able to experience the space black finish wearing off around the ports without upgrading to the Pro chip

My 2018 13” bricked yesterday, was trying to revive the firmware after problems trying to install 15.1 and now it’s in a continuous boot loop. So pulled the trigger on base 14” MBP with 1TB.

Apple have also quietly increased the battery capacity from 70 watt-hours in the M3 MBP to 72.4 watt-hours in the M4 MBP which matches the M3/M4 Pro and Max MBPs.

I'd be interested to see a teardown to find out if Apple have put 2 fans inside it like the other models, remember last year's M3 had a single fan.
