I hope they've improved the quality of the leather covers. When we bought our iPads my fiancée got a leather red one. She spilt a tiny bit of water on the cover that same day and she rubbed it off with a soft white towel - result, a red stained towel and a lighter patch on the cover. Apple replaced it the next day with a pink polyurethane one and we've had no complaints with that one.

so because your fiancée is a clueless klutz who doesn't know how to blot -- not rub -- a stain, Apple has to take the hit? wow.

As mentioned by others, this article is not correct. The leather covers have had matching interior and exterior colors since launch day. I have a black cover and my wife has a navy cover

Only the polyurethane covers had gray interiors.

If it was mentioned by others already, why in the world did you feel the need to post? redundant much?

If you look at the comments on the AppleStore about this product you'll see a significant number of people complaining that when this cover was folded to be used as a picture stand (where the iPad stood almost vertically and placed on a shelf) that it often fell over with disastrous consequences). The strength of the magnets was insufficient for this arrangement even though it's a valid thing to do.

Valid? More like foolish if you ask me. Putting it in that arrangement and bumping the device on any surface will likely show it will wobble somewhat. To go stick it on the edge of a bookshelf without checking how stable it is is a pretty dumb idea.

There won't be any fix, that would require the thing to be larger to increase the surface area and/or to open at an angle to make it less likely to topple over forward. Neither are good solutions.

Get a dock instead.

Why kill the orange? I've got a white iPad 2 and an orange Smart Cover. I love my creamsicle iPad. Same with the iPhone; White phone, orange bumper.

Utterly Fascinating

Which is fine; it adds character. Scratches on the screen, however, are not fine.

I'm still protecting the back as much as possible. I'd rather have an iPad2 with less "character" and more resell value in 2012 :D

You let Apple replace your 2x more expensive leather cover with a polyurethane one? I would have asked for 2 covers at least!

I just so happened to be within the exchange period for my older green smart cover so I went in for a free exchange to the new one.

It's pretty obvious side by side that the color on the new version is much deeper and richer, it made the old one look dull.

The build feels a lot better too.. Doesn't feel as floppy lol. And the inner microfiber is colored, along with being thicker and more like a shammy cloth than "furry".

The employees didn't even realize it was new... And they thought it was leather when they saw the inside....

BOOOOO, I liked the orange! Gave it some pizazz. Guess I'll have to run out and get one before their gone!

It did that because it's 'MAGICAL'!

It doesn't add character to the bloke your trying to sell it to I assure you!

Nooooooo why did they get rid of the orange!? I mean I have an orange one already but I would like to be able to buy a new one if something were to happen to this one. :(

keep your eye on best buy. my local one had literally 100+ orange ones sitting there, and almost no other colors. expect a closeout.

I always thought the Navy colour was weird... because it looked almost identical to the black! Maybe now we can actually detect some blue in it.

I just picked up the new dark gray polyurethane one. When the smart covers first came out, I wanted a darker color but those were only available in leather. Feels weird whipping out a brightly-colored iPad in a professional setting.

They've also changed the inner lining. It's a different fabric. Seems a coarser/thicker, which is probably better for the screen.

Smart Cover leather Blue actually looks Yankee Blue

Owned the "old" Navy leather cover and had several people mistake it for grey. Now for that Blue / Grey Civil War "Peace" edition.
