I'm giving them a break with this update. With the big move to the 'park' coming up I'm surprised anyone is actually working and not spending all day packing.

One can no longer control iTunes on an older machine. Thanks for creating another piece of electro-waste.

Remote.app is indeed a very weak offering by Apple. Because it's just a technical-oriented solution. It's there because it can be, but without any of the creativity or Apple "Magic" (hate that word). They could do so much more with the Remote and truly integrate iOS with iTunes and AppleTV. But no...

Finally! After I turned on two-factor login for my iCloud account I lost the ability to use the remote app. Nice to see it's finally fixed.

I wonder how these updates for forgotten apps happen: "I'm bored, guess I'll see how I can improve this old app" whereas "Pro" apps for "Pro devices" like Numbers for the iPad Pro can't do things like Pivot Tables.
I'm curious to see how it works at Apple now. I wonder if they have a kind of open-hierarchy like Valve, and someone did just wake up one morning wanting to improve an old app?

What do you mean? Remote apps for for devices. iTunes Remote for Mac (and maybe Windows?) and Apple TV Remote for Apple TV. I don't think they'll ever make a way to control the Music app on one iOS device from another.

The Tango Remote App can control your Apple Music on iOS devices. I use it all the time and it's super easy to use.

agreed, and the option to control Radio

and for those who say just use the Music app on your phone, the main advantage with iTunes on Mac is the ability to airplay to multiple airplay speakers. This allows for whole home audio control. Now if only apple would make a more affordable airplay receiver. A refurbished airport express is $50 which isnt too bad but would love something with a smaller footprint and closer to the $20 price point

So long as we're wishing, how about updating iOS to be able to AirPlay to multiple AirPlay speakers directly and simultaneously on its own (without having to involve a host Mac/PC running iTunes?) Is that such a crazy request?

The fact that I can already do this via a few AirPlay-compatible utilities on my Android tablet, but not my iPhone or iPad, strikes me as asinine.
