My updates (iWork, iPhoto, Aperture, iMovie, remote desktop) after installing ML got borked. I lost my wireless network connection in the middle of the download, or never really had it because the work network authentication got all messed up by installing ML. After fixing the network authentication, I went back to software update (app store) and now the updates didn't show up as available, or even as previously downloaded. The ability to update just disappeared, like it both thought I had them, and so don't need to get them again, and also that I didn't have them yet, and so didn't show up as previously downloaded.

I went to the support page to manually download the updates, which worked fine.

Weird.

Is there anyway to get the updates if you didn't purchase iWork through the Mac App store? I have them installed from the CD but it is not showing me any updates in the App Store?

Hi,

I know this doesn't help much, but there is a way to make it update from the Mac App Store. We did it when we were installing lion for a friend. I forget what we did exactly. Google something along the lines of: Pages from iwork cd showing in Mac App Store

Retina graphics in Pages

Has anyone seen Retina resolution in Pages since the update yesterday (July 25th).

I updated my iWork with the release that came out on July 25th to include Retina support and iCloud support. However, my toolbar in Pages does not appear to be Retina resolution. It is still grainy and cloudy.

I've compared this with the toolbars for Numbers and Keynote which are sharp and obviously Retina resolution. However, the retina graphics do not appear to be working in Pages.

From comparison, the 1st screenshot below is from Pages and the 2nd from Keynote. Keynote is much crisper.

UPDATE: I called AppleCare and they transferred me to software support. It looks like there is a low resolution mode that iWork.APPS can be forced into. I had to go to the Pages icon and do a Get Info on the app's icon and deselect the check box for open in low resolution.

Been thinking of buying I work numbers and pages since my trial ended. But ML on the horizon I thought a major update (paid version) might come out. So I have waited. Now I'm worried if I buy them tile get an update in a few months and I will feel compelled to buy major updates. I guess if it is true the developers have focused mainly oniOS versions then it'll be a while before they catch up with OSX versions. Knowing my luck I'll buy them tomorrow and they will get major updates next week. Nearly always happens.

I'm still running Pages '08. Looked at Pages '09 and decided there wasn't enough in there to warrant upgrading so decided to skip '09 and wait for the next version …

There's one way to get a major upgrade - I could go to the App Store and buy '09, which I've so far held off doing. :)

May have been just a rumour, but I seem to remember when Pages first came out there were certain features that weren't included because Microsoft had threatened to withdraw support for its Mac Office software if they were.

One feature which I would love to see in Pages, and would pay extra for, is an eyedropper to copy type attributes. How about having the basic app on the App Store then being able to buy separate plug-ins?

Nice stuff of course, but it would be nice to actually see a REAL update to the suite.

The biggest issue I still have is that the iOS versions are still crippled. If you have this iCloud syncing feature it would be nice, but this is a major failure. The fact that Page Layout in Pages is not supported at all, there is no landscape view in iOS, and no sections, it is ridiculous. I am a major Pages user, and this is very annoying. To have documents sync across all devices, and then have to duplicate them just to edit them is horrible.

I use EndNote a lot, and Pages '09 is quite limited in its EndNote implementation. If, for instance, I update bibliography information in EndNote, it does not get updated in Pages. I have to literally go line-by-line searching for in-text citations within my document (which, incidentally, are also not discoverable with Pages' search function) deleting all citations to a particular reference and reinsert them so the bibliography information is correct. The EndNote developers seem to indicate this is a problem between both Pages and EndNote.

I was really hoping for a full update to iWork with the release of ML, but considering the work involved in iCloud integration and dictation with the most recent update, I doubt they're expending a lot of effort in getting a new major release of the software out any time soon. Must I go back to Word and its non-retina hideousness?

Iwork won't startup anymore

Got real problems after installing mountain lion and Iwork update with app.store. It started up once but buggy. After having being forced to close down it will not start-up any more at all. It just hangs and makes my cpu's work really hard. But i've got a late 2011 mbp so it should easily deal with this update. Tried removing (and all other iwork related folders ) and reinstalling it completely but nothing works. When I log in as a different user it does work though. Normally I would be able to google the problem and fix it but I'm a bit stuck here...
