Every WWDC, they spend 20 minutes on new emojis. It's a huge waste of time.
It's actually a pretty clever thing, it's a good incentive to get folks on the latest software versions.

75% of iPhone users:
  • Update contains security and performance upgrades
    • Virtually no visible "reason" to update, even if it is important
  • Update contains 100 new emoji, security and performance upgrades
    • There is now a very visible reason to update

I don't dislike the emoji concept in itself but I have always found Apple's cartoonish ridiculously happy faces rather annoying.

I also find a bit puzzling that they dumped all skeuomorphism when some (or a lot depending on your POV) of it worked pretty well because it sometimes presented excessive ornamentation but keep propping these over the edge cartoon faces.

No, i don't know if anyone does it better or even properly, never bothered looking.

Just realized the Apple Store didn’t go down today and thus no new MBP with a coming soon label after all ….

Can't innovate anymore, my ass!

You're going to see some AWESOMELY crafted memojis, taking advantage of the massive computing power of the M1 processor.

Just look at the contours of the hair and the beautiful shading of the skin tones. That's the neural engine at work, creating amazing facial expressions. We're so proud of our memojis here at Apple and we know you're going to love them too; all powered by the M1 processor.
Yes, but if the awesomely crafted emojis reach their pinnacle, aren’t you just going to end up with their photos?

Why are all Memoji nose profiles concave, like little pixie noses? Why are those of us with the more "roman" nose profile not represented? Bitmoji manages to do this, there's no reason Memoji shouldn't be able to also.

I think Memojis are most useless thing ever. (Apparently i'm a boomer)
As a millennial I also think they're the most useless thing ever. It was ridiculous(ly desperate) how they tried to shoehorn them into the emoji keyboard too.

And the low key mid life crisis, boomer "what do kids like these days" vibe and blanket un-inspiration behind memoji-fying all of 2021 WWDC PR is pretty cringe. About as cringe as Eddy Cue vibin' on stage.
