Yeah, I can finally get rid of my "Internet Radio" playlist that just contains a single radio station that I listen to using Remote...that was my workaround for being able to play internet radio before this update. Actually that's probably how I'll still do it so I don't have to wade through a bunch of stations I don't care about.

What they still need to do is integrate this app into the iPod so you can be listening to something on the iOS and come into range of your home wifi network and have a popup asking if you'd like to continue playing on iTunes/AppleTV, etc. Would be great for podcasts that you almost finish on the drive home but want to hear the rest of it at home without having to scrub to the spot in iTunes or sync your device just to cue it up.

I'm still not seeing how to control internet radio stations... am I just dumb? If the station is already loaded in iTunes, I can start/stop it, but I don't see how to choose radio instead of local media nor how to change stations.

Please help me out.

I still think it would be better if it also acted as an airplay receiver... And yes, i do have airvideo.

Yes, I agree 100%!

My Mac Mini doubles as my iTunes server, why am I not able to steam my music to my iPad???

Count me in for a third vote.

I don't understand why this isn't happening. It seems like the most basic function you could ask airplay to perform.

As a huge Kylie fan I was overjoyed to see her new album artwork. :) And yes I do love the new features in the remote app, I use it for everything apple throughout my house!

I am very excited to see it as well. I got dragged out to her show in Oakland last year and fell in love with her music :D Can't wait for her return show!

I love this Remote App. I recently took my new AppleTV over to a friends house and realized I forgot its remote control. But then I remembered I could use this app to control the AppleTV. I can't wait to try out the new features.

From the sounds of it, they haven't given the iPad "version" the ability to act as an iTunes DJ "Guest", as you can on iPhone/iPod touch.

[ I'd also like to point out how great it is for Kylie to score such a prominent spot again. Wasn't a huge fan of "X", but "Aphrodite" is a great album. ]

Thank you Apple! I now have volume controls too!!

There have been several third-party apps that enable you to accomplish this right now. But I agree with you, they're not as elegant as Apple's native solution (if they'll ever make it possible).

"More" in bottom right, Radio

I've always been able to stream audio and video from my iMac with the remote app, not needing to use the Apple TV interface.

This is nice and all, as I use my Airport Express to wireless stream music to my Grado SR80i headphones while laying down in bed, and controlling it all from my iPhone... 3 rooms away from my PC holding my iTunes library.

But what I'd like to see is the ability to stream music from iTunes to the iPod/iPhone/iPad.

I understand there are third party apps already doing this, so it IS possible... come on Apple...

I didn't make myself clear. With the current version of remote it uses AirTunes to stream from iMac to Apple tv (mark i). Now airplay completely replaces AirTunes as far as I can tell. Since the mark i doesn't have (and will never have) airplay, I can no longer do this.

So I think I'll stick with version 2.0 of Remote. Unless someone can tell me different...?

Well it's good to see they are making some headway to offering what other apps out there already have. Nice to see they added video but it just makes the actual apple remote a backup, which i almost prefer to have the feel/feedback of an actual button on a remote.

So until Apple remote finally offers the all-in-one solution some people want I'll continue to use AirFoil. It streams from my itunes to any Mac and iOS device. I like it mostly because I use Pulsar with it to stream Sirius throughout the house. Gotta have my Howard fix when working in the garage.:D

Just received my Airport Express today and now this. I like it when Apple get things right.

I'm currently able to control iTunes from Remote app, and pick "AppleTV" as the speaker. How is it different?

I'm also able to control AppleTV from Remote App, and pick my iTunes library from my computer to be played on AppleTV.

I'm still confused as what this "new feature" brings..

The difference is being able to use Remote to send video from iTunes to your Apple TV. Previously, you could only send audio. To play video, you had to use Remote to control your Apple TV directly. The big advantage of Remote->iTunes->Apple TV is that you can control the volume of the video with Remote. By contrast, Remote->Apple TV requires you to use your TV's remote control to adjust the volume.

I don't think that's true. I used to be able to pick a video on my iPhone and have it start playing on the Apple TV (at least I could with the version before last, I'm not sure I tried since).

Wow very powerful but increasingly confusing for a multiple computer multiple iDevice single AppleTV family. I love Airplaying all this media from gadget to gadget with another gadget but it has an extremely low WUF (Wife Understanding Factor).

What apple needs to do is have a system where you can throw things around the room. What I mean by that is, take a movie on a mac, toss it to an ATV, then toss that to an iPhone, then toss that to an iPad, then toss that back to the mac. I'm talking complete power over where you watch something. I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to adapt airplay to do that.

This isn't true. Just like with music, I've always been able to select movies with the Remote App without using the Apple TV interface.

Now you can pick a video with your iPhone that is actually on your computer and Airplay it to :apple:TV. That's what's new.

Head spinning yet?

But you can't pick a video that's on your computer and watch it on your iPhone. Weird.

It's almost there...

Anyone else notice that you can only control radio stations on iTunes, but not the Apple Tv. Unless you have your tv on and are using the gesture control.
