No, you are stating that you can purchase an unlocked, as in not connected to a carrier, iPhone with 0% Apple card financing. This is not correct, you must connect it to a carrier, and you must activate it with that carrier.
You can say that it’s niche all day, that doesn’t make it not true. And there are several people who use prepaid carriers, government carriers, all sorts of other carriers.

For the other 90% of buyers, they can purchase an unlocked iPhone on APMI using the carrier of their choice and can then go to any other carrier they choose at any time. Most won't bother.

Of course, all of this can be avoided if you just buy the phone outright so if you're in the 10%, you may have to just do that to get what you want.

What's revolting is the amount of drama here over ownership. I would bet in a few years, y'all will be trading in, selling or handing down your old, precious trophy of ownership and get the next new shiny thing. Rinse and repeat.

I've used Klarna for a while, we own the products, if you miss a payment, they don't repossess it. It's helped me with purchasing things I've needed for my home and kids.

I’ve been on the upgrade program since its launch and it’s always been very convenient since I upgrade yearly.

It’s also been so smooth, I imagine Klarna will mess this up somehow.

I just purchased a mattress, 72 a month for 18 months, this is great for me because it's something I desperately need as my 1.5 year old less than 300 dollar mattress is starting to sink and with arthritis in my spine and chronic pain, I've never purchased a gooooood mattress until now, it arrives Monday and I can't wait to hopefully get some good 😴

Unless Apple did a different arrangement, no, you own it outright after the last payment.

I was thinking, I wonder how they will handle people on the iUP now. I’m currently enrolled, does that mean I no longer have the option of trading my phone in September like I have since the program launched?

Hopefully Tuesday we get the full scoop of what’s to come. I really hope there’s no new upgrade fee now if you want to continue trading in yearly.

I think they are referring to the older upgrade program where you can make payments then turn the phone in for a new model. Sort of like leasing a car.

Seems like the downside vs the current iPhone upgrade plan is that AppleCare+ is not included. I’m on an iPhone upgrade plan but chose to skip my usual one year upgrade to the 17 so only 2 or 3 more payments on this phone. Was going to just get this paid off, keep it as a backup or put it on another of my lines and then grab an 18 on the iPhone upgrade plan….guess I may need to reconsider

You can replicate all of this simply by using Apple Card Monthly Installments. 0% APR is free money and you'll own the device outright at the end. If you can't afford the payments of a product when divided by 12 or 24 monthly payments, you probably shouldn't buy it.

Stoozing an $1100 iPhone for a mere $35 of interest at today’s rates is absolutely comical. If you’re going to stooze do something worth while like a high limit credit card with 0% interest for 18 months.

They might just put an option when you’re doing the preapproval process iPhone upgrade program current uses only and then they’re gonna figure out what to do with us next year

If they’re gonna move us or they’re gonna keep this or what

We have to see if the new program has 12 months upgrade, but for current iPhone upgrade users is still going to stay, but I’m gonna confirm with Apple on Tuesday over the phone

We have to wait and see but according to what the post says it’s gonna still be in the program till Apple decides to migrate us someone else

I will assume they’re gonna still let us up as normal did they figure out how to migrate us.

I still think we’re able to operate as normal because I have one payment left and I could upgrade so it makes no sense for them to move us this cycle
