No
ive been hearing a rumor that Apple will give priority to folks on the Apple Upgrade program. Reason being if these folks have to wait a few months they will have to make additional payments that are not recoverable. Sounds like it may be true.

yeahh i have heard similar news, that would be amazing if they actually do that!! definitely would upgrade to the next iphone

I guess I can see the case for it. The upgrade program represents (arguably) their most loyal customers so why not reward them.

So....

I got on the upgrade program last September as I was due an upgrade but didn’t want to be tied into another two year contract when all the rumours started circulating about them doing something new for the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone.

So I imagine that there will be many like myself who will now want to get the iPhone 8. How do you think it’s going to go down regarding those who are on the AUP (given that it’s the first upgrade for us in the UK using this option) as opposed to those who will opt to buy it outright?

If supply turns out to be severely limited (i.e. More than normal) then I do think Apple would find it hard to justify not opening the pre order window earlier for IUP users. They're more profitable sales as every one of them comes with AppleCare.

Would be unfair for countries where the program is still unavailable
I’d imagine them doing that in a few years when the majority of countries where the iPhone gets launched (first batch) has the Upgrade Program available.

I can pretty much Gaurantee the Apple will allocate a higher portion of supply to people in their own loyalty program. Only Problem is the ONLY way to get the new iPhone 8 through the Apple Upgrade Program will be at 12 mid night when preorders open up and you will have exactly 30 seconds. To pick your device and check out they will sell out so fast.
That will still leave Millions of unhappy Upgrade Program cutomers.

I'm not sure being fair is part of the strategy. It will be first come first serve. 30 seconds sounds about right though. You have to move fast...

They know how many IUP customers they have in each country. All they'd need to do is ringfence that stock and give IUP customers a separate pre-order page. Any stock not claimed by close of preorder is reallocated to existing standard orders. Easy.
