MP 7,1 Apple USB-C to 3.5mm makes a great front headphone jack

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd share this little "hack" for getting a front-panel 3.5mm jack on your 7,1. Most of the time I edit and work with speakers, but occasionally like to put on some headphones.



As we know, the 7,1 does not have a front-panel headphone jack, and digging around the back to swap the speakers for the headphones is annoying. I was going to buy a USB DAC to solve this problem, but then had the idea to try out one of the AU$15 Apple USB-C to Headphone Jack adaptors.



It works great, and it's super easy to switch between the two outputs using the Sound menu!

Looks like possibly a lot of pull on that adaptor cable.

I know I've ripped my headphones out of the port more than once when getting up or having the cable wrap itself around the chair's armrest. If that were to happen to you hopefully it won't damage the port on the computer.

Headphone cable is 3 metres long, it’ll be fine. It’s designed to be used on an iPad so I’m sure it can handle being stationary at a desk.

I’ll give it a shot but I’d be surprised if it didn’t, it’s just a USB audio device.
