Apple USB-C Watch charging cable

I've been meaning to ask, why are the replacement pucks from Apple metal? I need a 2m cable since the 1m isn't long enough except for on a desk.

But this new USB-C one is only 0.3 meter

The metal ones come with the SS models of watch, so I assume they sell the better one so they can offer a single replacement.

Think the new one is more to travel with and charge from you MacBook or something.

Yea the short length would be perfect for travel. Has anyone done charging tests to see what size power brick the watch maxes out on for speeding up charging speed? Does the 5W, 10W, 12W, 29W bricks all provide the same speeds? Will this new USB-C cord help with speeds in any way?

That would be an interesting test.

Although I suspect the battery is so small that the charging speed increase will be negligible, I would be interested to know for sure.
