Apple USB keyboard function keys "clicky"?

I just bought an Apple USB keyboard last week and noticed today that the F4-F7 keys make a loud clicking sound when I press them, unlike any of the other keys on the keyboard. It sounds like someone snapping one's fingers and is pretty annoying. Is this common, or do I have a defective keyboard?

Does no one have one of these keyboards and can just hit the F5 button to see if it clicks or if it's silent?

I'm pretty sure my wireless KB doesn't click like that.
