You mean the snakes that are the default search engine on Apple products?

It's just business. Nothing personal.

Exactly, it is business and it’s upsetting to want to be free from
One company’s BS yet their competitor works WITH them…but what of this deal??

Will google have access to tons more data since Apple is using their tech for AI or simply non at all??….maybe somewhere in the middle?? From a consumer standpoint this is all very confusing and quite frankly, disconcerting…

Not actually. Renting a server isn't dissimilar from renting a storage unit or a car.

Just like Google isn't analyzing everything their customers utilize their cloud for, Hertz isn't listening to the private conversations you have in their Camry (one would hope!).

Really, you think Google, with its amoral management will live up to contract terms. You have much more faith than me.
Yes I doubt they'd break the law for the sake of pissing off Apple.

But more so, once again - why do you care? It's an open source project. They're just training a model, EVERYONE including Apple and the rest of the world can see how it was done, it's irrelevant if they could watch how it was trained anyway, Google already have a small LLM Gemini-nano that comes bundled in Android.

I'm not sure you understand what you're complaining or worried about.

I've honestly never seen people as confused on a tech topic as AI, it's frankly mind blowing to me if this is what a tech forum is confused by that the general public might just give up.

Google don't have access to any data. Think of it this way. They borrowed a friends powerful computer to make a program, put their program on a disk when it was finished and gave their friend the computer back. That computer is now never involved in Apple AI ever again. The model has been made. It was solely fed words and letters from public online material to learn how to put one word in front of another on the balance of probability.

Once you get a little more experience about how companies and government works, you will understand. But we all hope it is not too late.

Oh, and BTW the data cannot be processed on Google's hardware unless it is un-encrypted. So you should understand that is not about the process, but about the data.
