John Sculley gets bashed a lot and I’m glad Steve Jobs ultimately replaced him, but he was well ahead of his time when it came to mobile devices. Some ideas just arrive too soon.
And some arrive at just the right time. Scully's Newton project funded the ARM architecture escaping from just being a niche chip for Acorn computers. Without that, the whole ecosystem for the iPhone and Apple Silicon would look completely different.

Bonhams today announced that it will be auctioning several rare prototype Apple devices on November 3, including an unreleased VideoPad.

So an ex engineer stole this prototype when working at Apple and it's now being sold at Auction?

You do realise that Apple would still own any prototypes, no matter how old?

How is Macrumors promoting this??

Steve was truly ahead of his time. Such a brilliant mind and thinker.
From the article:

"Apple testing three versions of the device between 1993 and 1995, including the VideoPad 1, VideoPad 2, and VideoPad 3, according to Bonhams."

Steve was over at NeXT, and didn't return until 1998

This my favorite quote from Steve Jobs:

“I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong,” Jobs said. “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.” - Steve Jobs

I suppose the opposite would be:

“I will spend my youth as I please, not spending $1, and avoid fixing anything. I’m going to make friends with Android, and steal everything I can. I don’t feel like working.”
